I hope you don't mind me starting this Floridaguy. I know that no poetry ever gets read in the poetry section. My one poem has been read ONE time...so lets see if we can get some good stuff here.
Anything goes...whatever you got. For mine, I don't mind some honest feedback, I can take it, but lets try to be kind to others. No one has to like it, but lets not be nasty. Sound like fun?
Here is my first one:
A Poem by Tammy ©
It is like water washing up on a beach
Or like a sudden chill in the air
The way it comes, you half expect it
But still are surprised when your feet get wet
Or when your hug your arms close to yourself
In the dark, we never see it but we can feel it
We can't touch it, no matter how badly we want to
The way it hovers, barely touching us
The Sound of it, or is it just a sensation
Of deep abiding silence
Out of the corner of our eyes we get a glimpse
We turn, and it is gone, it was fleeting
But we know it was there, for an instant
We miss it, we long for it to come back
We yearn for what we don't remember
While we dream, we try to capture it
In our gossamer webs of fantasy
Our dream fingers clutch at it
But it floats away, taunting us
Because we never really had it anyway
Our tears feed the hole in our souls
The garden of darkness grows, and bears fruit
Of despair and wanting, yearning need
We are afraid to pick the fruit
Because of what it says about us.
We need, we want, we desire
Our dreams tell us, just as our hearts do
Our souls beg for it, awake and in sleep
We know what we forgot was never gone
We just misplaced it for awhile
Anything goes...whatever you got. For mine, I don't mind some honest feedback, I can take it, but lets try to be kind to others. No one has to like it, but lets not be nasty. Sound like fun?
