Just one Line.

I happened to be re-reading one of my stories from a couple of years ago, and I had a hard time believing that the author was me. (All right... was I).

Scene, young man is lying on the beach getting sunscreen put on by another man.

"...the heat of the sun and the heat of the situation melded together under the man's touch, and Scott was overcome with langour."

Pretty simple. Post one sentence of line from a story you've published or a current project.

Disclaimer: This thread is in the spirit of fun, no grammar shaming or unwanted critiquing of people's posts.
“And every day since I’ve been trying to speak with you,” I said lamely, “I was almost convinced you weren’t real…”

My naked back and arse were in full view of the window. On another day I might be worried about being on display for a complete stranger. I might worry that my thighs were too thick, or about the dimple in my right arse cheek, or about not being some rake-thin mannequin.

But tonight was the full moon and I knew I looked good.

From a story that's about to go up at another site under my alternate pen. If you know my alter-ego pen, you know it. If you don't, you don't. So sorry, so sad, it's all my bad!
"The place reeked of old glue, fear sweat, and the chemical ghost of an ancient Expo marker, filling Mrs. Henrietta Booker with a light sense of dread."

Lyndsei yelled into the mike, "My family is REALLY wealthy and I'm REALLY hot, so I don't really *do* consequences. Seriously guys, I have a lot of money; even my trust fund has its own trust fund, WOO!"

from a story currently in progress:

It had been a dream come true when Victoria Marlowe was offered a job at Downtown Central, a classical public city library. The kind of vaulted stone cathedral to knowledge built by Gilded Age robber barons to assuage their capitalist guilt, or at least whitewash their image to the press.

I knew what I should do. What all the rules said. What sanity dictated. I knew that I had to take cold sober look at everything we'd done and draw a definitive line: This cannot happen.

I didn’t. I went the other way.

Any one of these problems would normally have made Victoria fold like a wet napkin. All of them happening at once, though… It was like her anxiety had ascended to a different plane of existence and she had transformed into a coiled spring, absorbing and storing an increasing amount of energy. By Thursday evening, she was wound so tightly she was practically vibrating. Something had to give.

As we drifted off to sleep in each other's arms, Alice said, "Vincent, we're both calling in sick tomorrow. Today was fucking exhausting."
I agreed, although 'exhausting fucking' would also work on the medical certificate.

Maybe I should wait longer in between posting these?

The hour soon grew late enough that older recruits brought in food, which the first lad through the doors soon regretted as he was mobbed by goblins who left him flat on his back, dazed, and empty handed, while the girls scattered to hide in the crowd with their loot.

Yep. Girls will do that. Ain't no good being the gateway to the next generation, if there isn't any next generation. So, on behalf of me and my sisters? Prosperity, bitches! Make it worth our while. No matter how tough it was for us.

This is one of those posts that I look at the next day, and think: "Jesus, I have really got to cut back on the wine!" Looking at this today, I'm like, "What the Hell was I even talking about?"
