This morning I woke up late because I'd forgotten to set my alarm, so since I was running late, I asked my son to take me to work. (He needed the car--he's taking a friend, whose mother kicked him out, to the local community college; the guy has been couch surfing since the weekend. He's staying with us tonight.)

Once we crossed the St. Johns and got downtown, my son turned left onto Newnan St and then, stopped at the red light at Union St. As soon as the light turned green, he proceeded through it.

Then this fool chick in an Explorer came zooming in from the west on Union, running the red light. My son tried to stop, she tried to stop--to no avail. CRUNCH!

The JSO came and made us all move to the nearby Burger King parking lot so we wouldn't be blocking the intersection. They sent another unit to take all our statements and run checks on all our papers. Miss Yuppiechick who was driving the Explorer, got the ticket, as well she should have.

Nobody was hurt. I bumped my head a little, but hell, I've bumped it worse trying to come out from under my desk. The RAV4, however, sustained injuries to the front bumper, the right parking/signal light, the edge of the hood, and puncture wounds in the windshield washer reservoir.

I spent the morning on the phone to State Farm, Miss Yuppiechick's insurance carrier, trying to get the ball rolling on the claim.

That's two cars that have been wrecked since the beginning of the year. We're down to one...which I can't drive.

Also, I was going to go down to Palm Bay on Saturday for a jam...if my car isn't in a body shop by then, I'll use it; it's driveable. The light even still works. If it is, I shall have to either rent or borrow.

Shit!

Yeah, I know...nobody was hurt, and I am glad of that. But it's just been...well, one damn thing after another. The son's car in January, the refi that took four times as long as it should have and had to be done twice, the slab leak...c'mon, universe, gimme a break.

If your car is in the shop, the other insurance should be providing a rental.

And *do* get checked out medically JUST BECAUSE. Yeah, I know, I know, but I wrote an article I'll send you privately on dealing with auto accidents that talks about this.

Good Point. Back and neck trauma sometimes take time to make themselves known.
