I'm newer at this and no literary giant by any means. We are here as a couple and we have more stories in the wings but I attempt to write for both sexes, so although there are adult words and subjects l try not to be too brash for the female readers, am l wrong in doing so? Is it only about the sex itself and those details? To me, that's like porn that starts with whomever already going at it. If so it's no more than dirty words and deeds, toss them in a blender and dump them out over and over. For me, sex always had more to do with your or their brains than the parts of you that you cover up with underwear. Seduction and surprises have always been my tools along with a good skill-set, but I'm hung (average) so maybe l just learned to try harder? Plus my wife reads these and even though we're putting ourselves and life out there and in a very adult way, l would never want to insult her in any way. She's not made of glass nor does she or l feel shame about how we lived our lives, so she is comfortable reviling very personal things to make our point. I would not want to abuse her sacrifice not would l want you to do such to the one you love.

My wife sometimes wants the slow burn romance story, and sometimes she wants the explicit erotic scenes. When she's really turned on and watching a porn video, she'll often reach a point of saying "Fast forward to the end. I want to see his cum shot!"

It really depends on the reader and their interests at the moment. When you write and publish your stories, you will find some who love them and some who hate them. But there will ALWAYS be haters in this modern instantaneous world of the Internet, so don't take the haters too seriously. They are a very small number out of the 7.5 billion people on this planet. Appreciate those who like your story.

The frequent "what does THE reader at Literotica want" question in any dimension really gets tedious. Pick any ten readers at Literotica and you'll get ten different answers about what they prefer/want. And that's just how it should be. It gives writers a huge box to write in and have readers interested in what they write.

Thanks, Keith

I surely get your point, as would my husband if/when he reads it. We all have different boats to take us to our destination, be those far more similar. (blushing)

We do not take issue with criticism, that said some could be nicer about it. But l never lose track of that my husband and l are in the same boat, and it has and remains quite the journey.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out, stay safe out there. Bees

For me: I usually find the personal interaction leading up to the sex (and sometimes during it, and after it) more interesting than detailed description of the physical acts. That's what I write, and judging by the reader reaction, there's an audience for it. There are also people who find that approach boring and would much rather I skipped all the talky bits and got on with the fucking.

If you enjoy writing it, somebody here will enjoy reading it. You're not getting paid for your stories here (and even if you were writing for profit, the money involved is usually meager) so there's not much value in chasing readership to the point where writing stops being fun.

Thanks for your input and l agree. We are not getting paid to write and deserving so. lol. With time and practice hopefully, we can hone our skills to a higher level but if we write to please the majority it quickly loses its fun factor for us. If l wanted a job I would surely get one that does pay me. Thanks again, Bees

Good advice and we thank you for it. All the best to you both, hopefully, our paths will cross again. Bees and on the behalf of my hubby.

I have read some of your works, and generally have enjoyed them, though some are not among my favorites. Whatever you post, you will have lovers and haters. Ignore the trolls. They are little people with little minds

I think Keith has the right of it. We all have different tastes and kinks. I prefer a little romance in the story, an emotional connection, but then again there's mothing at all wrong with the 'bangin' a stranger" stories where it's just raw sex.
I'm working on my first submission right now. It's my story. I'm writing what does it for me. I'll submit it, hopefully get it posted. If folks enjoy it I'll be over the moon. If they don't, I'll be disappointed, but I'm not going to change the style of my stories. Write what you enjoy, what turns you on.

For me it's all about what the protagonist experiences. That is, do they enjoy the sexual encounter? Are they degraded, humiliated, or embarrassed? Are they coerced into sex? Do they want to try it again or never go back?
I've found essentially the same thing as a female writing with male antagonists. It's the enjoyment that counts, and wanting more. I'd just say that in my experience if the girl is degraded, humiliated, embarrassed or even coerced it doesn't matter as long as she eventually enjoys what the boy is doing. E.g. "I hated it when he pulled my panties down but rejoiced when his hand caressed my bare ass" is all you need for a 5 rating.

I take Pride in writing down and dirty sex. Truth is I usually start with a sex scene in my head. then I come up with the participants, their relationship, and last a venue. Then the story is getting the participants to the sex scene.

then I write the whole story without the sex scene. Last I go in and fill in the sex. Sex is the hardest part to write because I’ve thought about it for so long I’ve written it my head a lot and putting it on paper is hard.

if I look at word counts about 20-30% of the words in my story are sex scenes.
