I've always tried to be that little bit different,that little more shocking.

Are you serious? I have children. My 16-year-old would look at you like you were high for saying something as ridiculous as is her mother cool? Hell, no. I'm her mother. Parents aren't cool. Obviously you don't have children.

My friends---they'd say a lot of things. I suppose cool would be one of them. Cool because we have interesting conversations and I'm supportive.

My 10 year old niece & her friends call me "Cool Aunt J" because I treat them like the unique young people they are. I love being around them. A lot of the young people I know would say I am cool because they can talk to me & know that I will keep their confidences to myself. I don't consider myself cool, just someone who likes to be there for her friends.

I'm cool because I listen to and support the people who work for me. I don't keep close tabs on them, I let them do their jobs and expect they'll come to me if they need help. The employees love that I trust them to do their jobs that way, no matter what level they are. If they make a mistake, they aren't afraid to admit it because I won't kill them for it. We'll figure out how to fix it and prevent it from happening again in the future. And I'll protect them from my boss, who isn't so understanding at times.

I'm fair with raises, and I give feedback during the year so that none of them are starving for their annual review to know how they are doing. (We just had this conversation at lunch yesterday.) I'm a good boss, and in turn the employees support me and keep me in the loop as to what is going on.

The best part is that employees who once worked for me still come to me to get ideas for how to deal with their current boss. That's after they've begged to be able to come back to work for me, first. They tell me that they like the fact that I took an interest in them personally, and got to know what was going on in their lives. Their current boss is all business, no human side to him. But he is learning. I'm trying to help him, too.

Their friends would like to have parents like us...we let them be who and what they want to be, dress how they want. We draw the line at self destructive behaviour and tell them looking a certain way doesn't mean they have to do everything associated with that lifestyle.

As for me, my friends say that I am cool because they can count on me in a pinch, and that I am not judgmental. I'll take their word for it.

Me, for example: I'm a very good friend to the few people who are really close to me. If you need a shoulder to cry on, you know I'll listen, no matter how long you need to just vent.

I'm also the type of person who would do anything for anyone. Need help - I'll be there. I'm just that way. I'm also one of the few people who can wear a four day stubble and look cool while doing it.

Cool?

I am not really sure what cool is Black_Bird, but I have been refered to many times as a "Kewl" guy. I hear it alot from teenagers who introduce me to their friends as "Kewl". And I hear it from adults at parties as they try to calm the other guests fears saying, "...I've known him for a long time and he's a really cool guy."

Maybe it's because I listen to what the teenagers are saying and the adults trust me because they know I'm not trying to fuck their ol'lady, unless it's okay of course. Then again it could be that I know something on every fucking one of them and I keep my mouth shut! hehehehe!!
