Got thinking of a scene and decided to be a bit naughty with bondage without going the whole hardcore BDSM route and thought maybe they should use whatever is lying around and would love to hear some ideas of stuff you think could make a fun scene. I am only going to include a few I thought of that would be easily on hand.

1. Stockings - Comfortable and stretchable yet still restricting.
2. Pearls - Easily breakable of course but totally sexy.
3. Men's Necktie - Can double as a blindfold or gag.

Oh, more than that. Firsthand experience.

Recently wrote a scene where the protagonist's multiple bi girlfriends tied his "date" - who was not one of them - to the bed with his belt and several neckties, to have a little fun with her.

Stockings can be sexy worn on the legs (or the face, if you want to play bank robber) but using them to tie somebody up is likely to get pushback from readers familiar with RL bondage.

"Stretchy" might sound comfortable, but when it comes to ties it's really not. The stretchier the material, the harder it is to find middle ground between "loose enough that the bottom can easily slip out" and "tight enough to cut off circulation and damage nerves". And knots in stockings can be very hard to untie in an emergency. Better off using neckties for that.

Household objects: clothes pegs for the obvious application. Pillowcases can be quite effective for behind-the-back restraint.

Silk scarves - just be careful with your knots and have scissors available. ;)

I know nothing about BDSM, so take this with a grain of salt. To me, using something like neckties instead of handcuffs actually makes the scene more hardcore. For starters, if someone is tied to the bed and gagged with neckties, they're still tied to the bed and gagged. Because neckties aren't meant to be used as a bondage device, it'd take a lot more skill and effort to use them compared with a pair of handcuffs.

The key with "available objects" is it implies the bondage was spontaneous and a product of passion. Handcuffs are when it's planned, and from experience. A friend just this morning reminded us of the line, "If you do it more than once, it's no longer kinky." Spontaneous = kinky fun.

As far as fun objects, if your tie-ee is bound in a standing position, use a bucket instead of a blindfold. :ROFLMAO:

Bathrobe ties, belts, bungee cords, plastic wrap, electrical tape, so many craft and sewing supplies depending on your characters' hobbies, good old fashioned rope...

I don't think the "one-bar-prison" has yet been done full justice in a Literotica story. I'm working on that.

If we're talking the padded made-for-BDSM kind, I'd agree. Police-model metal cuffs OTOH are easy to use, but a little harder to use safely; there are a couple of issues with them that might not be obvious to a newbie who hasn't done the reading.

This is the big caveat. Lots of things can be used safely, if you know how. I've come across a lot of stories on Lit that are truly shocking in their ignorance of / disregard for safe play and characters having the most basic grasp of what is and isn't dangerous in terms of restraint.

Clingfilm/Saran wrap.
T-shirt, pull up the front up and over their head and back down over their arms. Remarkably effective.
Duct/gaffer tape - not directly on skin, double a length back upon itself first.
Character goes rock climbing so has plenty of ropes, karabiners and harnesses to hand...

Or stick to the psychological (probably best for the pearls!) - put something in their tummy button or hands or on their lips. Don't let it fall...
