Just a thought... (New story idea)

Most of the stories here involving succubi usually end up as "succubi comes, they fuck men to death, and enslave/transform women, while trying to control Earth". Granted, I'm not trying to be sexist, but could there be one story in which a succubus comes by and transforms every living thing it sees? Not just humans, maybe get some demonic fauna going on?

Suggestions, questions, posts calling me crazy?

Actually the demonic being who visits a woman is called an "incubus". A "succubus" is strictly a female demon who visits men.

That's always been my understanding, too.

But on the other hand, why can't a Succubus go after a woman? Or an Incubus go after a man? In this sexually liberated time, we should learn to embrace all of these alternate demonic lifestyles.....Carney (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

There's an idea: the incubus that just isn't attracted to women and his dreadful soul-searching :)D) until he realises he's gay.

Thing is though, the way most authors write the succubus story, they engage in demonic lesbian sex and transform the female into a succubus themselves, who proceed to do the same with other women. However, when said succubus have sex with a male, usually, they die from sexual exhaustion/being drained of life force/etc. I've never come across a story in which the succubus came, and transformed the male into a incubus and then they proceeded from there.

actually, a succubus is classically able to seduce both, as are incubi. the difference is that unlike a succubus, an incubus is pretty much androgenous. though it's possible for a succubus to form her wings into anything, say, a male member << it doesn't happen often. incubi are able to change their wings into anything as well, going so far as to alter their appearance to that of a woman. it's just that because Succubi are inherently female, they are normally written as seducing men. most people also assume they feed upon human souls. they actually are supposed to feed upon sexual energy

i did quite a bit of research as a result of my obsession with Morrigan Aenslaed, from Darkstalkers.

Dragon you pervert. :p

Your right though, a succubus and incubus are more or less androgenous and don't receive pleasure from sex. They appear, seduce the victim and go away. So really if you want to rather break the mold, the succubus falls in love, or Incubus and then they have to figure out how to become human so they can be with their love.

Also if you go back far enough, succubus and incubus did not have a form, they were simply spirits that entered your dreams and fed off your sexual energy. So even more food for an interesting romantic story. ;)

I have never heard of that.
Perhaps it's a mythology that isn't commonly known.
The counterpart of a succubus (siblings in a Satanist mythos) is a Vampire.
Both are children of the devil.

Wrong. succubi feed upon semen. It´s the source of the current belief behind the succubus´ need for sexual energy. The ancient Greeks believed that men had a finite amount of semen in their bodies and that the release of the total amount of semen would result in the death of a man. That belief carried over into the Christian faith, where squeamishness about mentioning the physical aspects of the succubus´ effect on a human man led to the gradual change of ideas, from semen to an all-encompassing ideal of human life force.

Note: (Semen was contained in the head- after all, spilled brains are white and waxy looking. Plus, a "demented"- AKA Alzheimer sufferer´s brain is often riddled with holes and other degredations. Dementia and hole-riddled brain=he died from lack of semen! The Greeks were vivisectionists. They would have performed autopsies on an obviously unwell man, just to see what went wrong.),

I fI were writing the story, I´d refer to the ideal of succubuses as public servants. There are quite a few "unfuckable" men in the world, most of them on the GB, and they would be "relief specialists". A story focusing on a succubus´ nightly work, detailing changes that the demon/angel used to effect a quick release upon her subject would be very erotic. Visiting an 18 year old porn addict in a cheerleader´s body, changing to Angela Davis for her visit to a Death Row inmate (Bonus if the inmate is white, in jail for the murder of a black person, because irony is sexy), changing to a dowdy housewife for the relief of a lonely widower, etc.

Essex and the guy dancing in his profile included in the needing releif. :p

Actually that would be rather interesting, though I wouldn't care for that to much since the succubus just turns into somebody else.

What?!
My god you're way off.
I suggest you look at the actual myths instead of online gaming (includes D&D offline) character histories.

A succubus feeds on the essence of a youthful soul, thereby leaving an aged old man when she's done.

"Semen" wasn't even a word back then (for a while).
Semen was a new invention that was said to spurt out of Uranus when his genital was severed by Cronus.

What the hell is this about?!

uh, no....a succubus feeds upon sexual energy. actually, they feed off of most emotions, dependent on breed or clan or whatever. each type has a different emotion they feed upon. lust, rage, sorrow, and the like. some breeds also feed upon happiness or joy, but they are extremely rare in legends.

never has it had anything to do with souls at all, outside of christian/catholic religion, and we all know how royally they screwed up everything back in the dark ages, don't we?

Your'e all right because uh... they aren't real.

Or at least, they exist only in the subconscious. Or else its that pervert across the way Astral projecting again.

In any case, one is allowed a certain amount of artistic license with mythical characters I believe, as there are so many traditions specific to specific peoples and certain historical periods that it's all pretty much "true" depending on the where and the when.

I haven't really read many of the incubus/succubus stories in here, so I can't really say what would constitute a departure from cliche - where would they be found?

I have a succubus/incubus story outlined, wanted to do sort of a Lovecraftian theme, I should get together with that Lovecraft nut that runs around here.

Incubi and succubi have been around forever as the male and female demons of their kind.
Incubi were first mentioned in Sumerian times.
Christianity and the Catholic Church dealt with them both in the Malleus Maleficarium

A succubus (in the original origin) is a female devil (child of Lucifer).
In modern myth she is a demon.
A vampire (in the original origin) is the result of a copulation between the devil and his minions, making him a demon.
After Mary Shelly's Dracula, a vampire became known as a man with supernatural powers.

I have to check my Dungeons & Dragons book, but I'm pretty sure an Incubus is another race entirely.

This is the modern day depiction of a succubus (incredibly beautiful woman, huge bat wings, wearing silk robe and nothing else, and with absolutely perfect breasts.
This picture of the character started during the sexual revolution with a bio to match.
Her origin (as well as looks) is nothing like this at all.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succubus
The succubus collects semen to give to the incubus, she does not feed on it.

At no point does the Wikipedia entry mention that the succubus and incubus are related.

It's got sod all to do with Dungeons and Dragons, this is ancient mythology. As I said before the Sumerians spoke of incubi. They were around a tad before Lucifer, never mind D&D.

Satan El wasn't even invented until like the Middle ages, there's dozens of millenia of less insipid superstition prior to that about which we have a few clues concerning the last couple, nobody knows what the "original origins" are, but I sincerly doubt Satan was involved, a symbol originally of free will, later taking on the chacteristics of Pan in erotophobic dualist Christianity.

In Christianity, the incubus/sucubus probobly represents suppressed erotic desires.

The earliest incarnation of the "Bad Man" was probobly Ahriman who represented doubt - a singular departure from animism I believe, as it's only monotheistic religions that presume we going from "here" to "there" - i.e., a continuum as opposed to a cycle.

Where are we headed? That's the doubt.

Satan represents that nagging animism, that there's nobody but us chickens.

Sorry, I was trying to throw a wrench in all this pedantry - I suggest going to the source - your subconscious.

I said I wasn't sure.

An incubus impregnates women with the stolen sperm a succubus collects.
Succubi do not feed on semen, they do however drain the energy from their victims.
This energy is the essence of a person (AKA soul).

Let me guess - that's from the bible of all knowledge too?

Oh, for heaven's sake. They're creatures of myth. That means, by definition, that there is no ur-text that gives the absolute unvarying definition of them. Myths are orally transmitted and vary throughout the time and space through which they are spread. You're all right because there are multiple versions of the mythology and they're all different. That's part of what makes them myth.

Xssve has the best take on it. There is no definitive "right" version of the myth, so draw on the parts that speak best to your own ideas. And the next person who cites Wikipedia as an authoritative source gets a kick in the pants.

Shanglan (in a cranky mood)

um...ok, thanks for the info, i guess...

xssve, all the succbus/incubus stories can be found in either the Non-human/Sci-fi and Fantasy sections. Just search the words 'succbus' or 'incubus' and you'll get some good stories (Personally, I suggest the Succbus Ranch series, 'cause its just that good.)

About the definition of the succubus which i think we're trying to establish here, I'm sure you could get some basis from a D&D book, but I'm pretty sure most of it is false and misleading. In what I usually read on the this site, a succubus proceeds as follows:

- Gets summoned
- Drains men of life force
- Converts women into slaves/sisters
- Tries to take over the planet

Basically what I've said before-hand. Call me wrong or stubborn, but that's what I've read and I'm sticking to it. So I'm wondering, if said succbus could transform women, why not transform men as well? Or other living creatures as well or even plants or such? If succubus by its very nature, can't have sex with a guy without killing him, then fine by me, but as we all can tell, the nature of the succubus is very subjective (or else this thread wouldn't be as long as it is).

So yeah, again, just wondering if that would be a good story idea (Succbus comes, transforms woman/male/animal/plant/thing and then go from there).
