John's Rustic Romper Room

Doesn't age settle us all down a bit? *sigh* After really good nights and some days with not much standing I still have my old height. For about three minutes.

Only one of my two has my length. My old length *grins* The other one stopped at 1,67 (5,6). Her father's genes at work.

At least now I am able to buy trousers that are the right length. And shoes! I am so happy most factories started to make shoes in my size. When I was younger it was so difficult to find nice and fitting shoes. Winter shoes and sandals came out of the boy's department when I was twelve. When I was thirteen too. And the winter shoes when I was fourteen. Then my mom allowed me to buy lady's summer shoes with a slight heel! You can't imagine how happy I was!

Blouses are still a problem though. Sleeves are almost always too short on long sleeved blouses. Sometimes I wish my arms would also shrink a bit.

Wintercoats are okay as long as I buy sports- or outdoor-wear.

Hope you stay awake!

Yup.. I was so glad when I got to high school and I could wear pants instead of dresses every day.. no more forcing my feet into women's shoes that didn't fit and always hurt. These days it is either men's Skechers or cheap flipflops.. Love me some Skechers.. lol.
Mom would always shrink a couple of my dad's flannel shirts so the sleeves would be to short for him.. I always got to pick out the colors! Shopping from Dad's closet..lol. Pants are still a problem, talls are just a bit to long and average can be a touch short.. grrrr

Most shoe producers and certainly the shoe-selling chains do offer lady's shoes up to 11 here. Which means I can always choose between ten or eleven normal prized models. Only the new pair of hiking shoes I needed three years back were still a problem. Good ones for ladies in my size were just too darn expensive.

But Meindl produces a line for men who have feet that are not as broad as those of the average man.

"I almost never do sell these shoes to men," the salesman said. "Almost only to women."

That time I was in Italy though, and urgently needed a pair of black shoes for a funeral (who plans clothes fit for a funeral when she goes on a holiday? I don't.) Seven shoe shops my sister-in-law and I visited.

Five times the salesmen just shook their head and said friendly they didn't have that size as soon as I told it. Some gave us addresses of other shoe-shops, one phoned a his nephew who also had a shoe-shop to ask him, some wished me luck on my quest.

In one shop though, the salesman looked me in my eyes, looked down to my feet, covered everything in-between (twice) and then, his eyes locked at my feet:

"No, such very big shoes I don't have."

Finally we found a pair. Awful shoes, but handmade for an older lady who had died before she could pay and get them. I got them for near to nothing, and it was the most comfortable pair of shoes I ever had!

Good morning all. Have a wonderful Sunday - Funday! Before most of us head back to school and work try to do something fun. :cattail:

Well, I just finished my first fantasy football draft for this year, with one more to go this evening. I can't wait for football season to start, but this may be my last year of fantasy play. Guys are too egotistical to just play and have fun and I'm thinking it's not worth my time any longer.

Greetings RRR's,

Hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend!

It's funny that you mention doing fantasy football... My 10 year old son will be doing a fantasy football club at school. He is very excited about it because he is really into football and stats, more so than most of the other kids in his grade. He knows it is not everything, but it does help...

Nice AV, Kurvy. Maybe I am too curious, but why does fantasy football help your son? Is it an Ersatz for him playing football?

Good night John and all

:kiss:es and :)rose:) all around.

John et al....

I'm leaving this thread so that Munky is comfortable posting in it without me around.
XXOO to all of you!

Whatever works for you. We all get along here, there's plenty of room, and you'll be missed, but I wont twist your arm.

I'm sure he'll do great Kurvy. I could probably get some tips from him. Honestly, I've been doing this so long, it's almost 2nd nature now, but I'm really tired of all the internet muscle and bs that takes place anymore. Mrs. John seems to think I'm just ahowing my old age :(

Thank you so much Dutchrain! My AV is a painting of Andromeda by Eugene Delacroix. Fantasy football will not help my son, per se. He is just doing it for fun, as an after school club. I had to brush up on my French before I could answer your next question... The answer is, no... the club is not a replacement for football, nor does he get any kind of credit for the club. It is purely for fun. As John implied, to show your football knowledge. Bragging rights, if you will...

My melancholy has returned today. Not sure when I will be back...need to focus on RL. hugs.

Good morning everyone

Rhapsody, :)rose::heart:) dear. I hope your melancholy does change into cheerfulness soon.

Bragging rights, Kurvy? *grins* Oh! I get it now. Wish him fun.
(Going to google Delacroix, I like to look at paintings)

:)rose:) Thandi.

John: (:)kiss:)) A new week of classes lies ahead of you, have fun!

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y ! ! !

John, I hope you have a wonderful day. I know you have a long day in school but take some time to enjoy yourself.

All best wishes to my dear friend.... Love, Yellow_Rose

:rose:Happy Birthday John:kiss::rose: have a good day at school even though your day is long. Hopefully you get some Birthday Cake!

Good morning everyone. Yes, it's my birthday, but I'll be spending it in classrooms for the most part. Thanks for the well wishes.

Munky, thanks for the birthday wishes, but damn buddy, what the hell is going on? First we get a post here from Thandi saying she isn't going to post here anymore so that you can, then we hear that you're drinking again.

It sounds and feels like those 2 events are related. Are you guys really squabbling and playing games on an internet message board? I care for you both, a great deal, but honestly?
