Did the NVA really dislocate both of his shoulders and then hang him from the ceiling by this thumbs?

I think I remember reading this somewhere, but I'm not sure if that's actually true..

Broke both arms and a leg while ejecting from his A-4 when he was shot down over Hanoi. Had one shoulder broken when he was captured from a rifle butt blow. I have no clue about other injuries while in captivity.
