His team said he did well given the delays and errors in the c.c's; the host company blames him for not rehearsing enough.
Now if any of you are as familiar with c.c's as i am (they're used on our tvs and on millions of other Americans' tvs where hearing loss is common) and can hear what's being spoken versus what appears on the captions, you'll KNOW it's filled with errors and gaps/delays. I didn't see the debate, but if he was relying on the captions for all his information then i fully appreciate the difficulties that may have presented themselves.
When i'm watching/listening to a programme (news/movie/documentary what have you), i am frequently thrown by what appears on the captions as it often bears little to no resemblance to the spoken words. I don't think people unfamiliar with this will be able to make a clear judgement of how Fetterman managed, as they probably think the captions are an almost instantaneous and mirror representation of the dialogue. I wish this would be brought up more in discussions about how well or poorly people believe he performed on the night of the debate.
