I just watched a video on a local News Station, a video that completely pissed me off as did the reactions by some of the viewers.

Yesterday they showed a video of swimmers on a local island pulling a Spotted Ray out of the water, stabbing it with a knife and cutting off it's tail. It also showed more than a couple of people standing around clapping as this was going on.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the video but what truly got me going were the comments made by some of the people interviewed in a man on the street style.

The one that got my attention was this Super Trooper type in his camo pants and Wife Beater shirt. He stated that this was nothing to be upset about, and besides that's what happens when a lower life form ventures into the territory of a higher life form. (Hmmmmm, was he claiming to be a higher life form?)

Well while the Driving range might be fun it's been so long since I touched a club I probably wouldn't be able to hit them.

Taking them diving though. Well that could be amusing. I know plenty of "Lower Life Forms" down there that would love to get up close and personal with them for a short while.

It's always easy for some people to applaud while a weaker creature is tortured by a stronger creature. The applause might draw the favorable attention of the torturer and prevent one of the onlookers from being the next torture victim.

Torturing the torturer is not a solution, it only reinforces the cycle. Seeing that the torturer never tortures again is a solution, but our society protects torturers. Sad.

Well, considering this is the case of humans (land living creatures) venturing into the territory of fish (water living creatures), one can only assume that the ray was the higher life form than the swimmers, right?
