What do you think of those names? Name some antiquated names, phrases or words...

I think Penelope is a pretty name... the others I could do without.

Other old-timey names I like?

Thadeus, Elizabeth, Catherine, Thatcher, Eleanor.

I haven't seen or heard of a Bertha in years and I can't complain. Bertha reminds me of pork rinds, etc.

But there seem to be alot of "Mae's" around here,
either Sallimae, Jennimae, etc.

Kids today have 'made-up' names, usually apart of each parent's name. Sometimes it works, but . . .

You don't hear Georgia, Irene, Agnes, Elsie, or Bertie anymore.
Or for that matter, Franklin, Theodore (I think the Beaver did that one in), or Lavern.

Possibly for good reason.

A girlfriend of mine named her kids Latigo and Laredo. They aren't names, just words. It's a cowboy thing, lol. But it's cute, and it works. :)

I've met some words that became names....some of them I liked...Aurora, Special, even though she's a fictictious character Felicity....but some like Alize and Sunshine....just don't do it for me...

As for granny names, my youngest's middle name is Rose. It's a grandma name, but it's still pretty and timely.

My daughter's middle name also Rose.

:)

Oh middle names are fair game for anything...that's when you name the kid after your favorite dead relative, a sports team, you can even go with the always popular "Name you would have given the kid if the sex were different" and give Susan the middle name Ryan and Micheal the middle name Tracy....

A very good friend of mine had his first baby on Friday, or rather his wife did. They named her Lucie, which is a name I don't hear often at all. Very sweet.

I don't really mind what a person names their kids, but I draw the line at naming them after a TV commercial they see. ( Yes I was named after a commercial, thats why I hate that way of naming a kid... If, of course, I am not the only person in the world named like that.)

I love classic names Virgina, Mabel, Dora...I would never name any of my kids that though, they have been relegated to Middle name world forever. If I were to breed I am fond of the names Logan and Jack... never really thought about if it was a girl though. No offence I am just tired of names like Sierra, Nevada, Dakota and anything else like that I know a MILLION of them now. It was like the Britteny/Brandon thing in the mid 80's too many of them.

When I have children, I know exactly what their names are going to be.

Boy - Bernard Patrick
Girl - Lily Rose

And SW, just because you were named after a TV commercial doesn't mean you have it bad. I was named after a Partridge.

OUR daughters middle name is also Rose, and a most beautiful name it is too. For a beautiful girl and a beautiful flower.

Each of us named our first born girl with a middle name of Rose after our grandmother.

Of course, my first born girl is a cat named Cheyenne Rose.

I know a couple that named their kids Evan and Elle.

(Add an H to those.)

They say they never thought of that.
