a friend of mine took krav maga for a while and loved it, and she kept telling me i should get into it but i havent yet. its something i've always wanted to do. from what she told me it focuses more on real life situations and how to handle them, and i like that idea. this thread may inspire me to actually check it out and sign up :) :catroar: just hearing how much fun youre having Killi is making me want to go do it. i've been wanting to go do something physical, i just wasnt sure what. plus..i like the idea of not having to be afraid of ANYone, not even a guy. :cathappy:

Go for it Sigsauerprinces!

So we'll have a whole cadre of ass kicking subs!

Too cool!

I would advise ANYONE interested to get into martial arts... (health permitting, that is.) Jeet Kune Do and Krav Maga both focus less on routine and protocol and much more on real-life situations. I also take Kali and knife fighting. I have tons of energy these days, I sleep less and yet wake up more refreshed, and I eat more yet am toning up. :nana:

I'm absolutely not worried anymore about martial arts affecting my submissive side. Being submissive is a mindset and a life choice, and knowing how to defend myself against physical attack doesn't seem to affect it in the slightest. My Dom is more than a bit over-protective of me, and He is happy I'm learning to defend myself (He fights pretty well, so sparring with Him is helpful as well.) In fact, I bought Him a set of Kali sticks so now He can help me practice that as well. :)

FurryFury, If you could find either of the two martial art styles I mentioned above, I would enroll your daughter in that as compared to more traditional styles. Street-fighting is what's really gonna help her out in a bad situation... knowing not just how to punch and kick, but how to distract someone, how to kick them in the nuts or poke them in the eye. Also, JKD teaches you to fight in all positions... whether you are standing, far apart or locked arms-in-arms, or even grappling on the ground. Good luck searching out something for her... and let us know when you find something!

Dragon, I wish you guys lived closer to down-town... You'd probably really like the class I go to. If a spot opens up I will let you know, but I am guessing you probably couldn't make it all the way over here through traffic in time for the class. *bummed look*

Helene, What type of MA do you take? I always suspected you were a kick-ass kind of girl. ;)

SSP, go out there and start looking!! It's SO much fun... good exercise... Just find someplace with a good AND nice instructor. It makes all the difference. Post here when you find something to try out and let us know! :nana:

Since my heart attack plus my recent diagnosis as at least borderline diabetic <sigh>, I don't think MA would be much of a good idea for me... but since I end up panting after a relatively small amount of physical exertion, I think an MA-trained sub/slave would be a great thing - if someone was threatening toward me, she could kick his ass and then take her place beside me, softly inquiring if there was anything else she could do to please me... :D

Yeah, that fantasy is a lot hotter to me than I care to admit.

There was a Superman cartoon I used to watch where Lex Luthor's assistant/driver/bodyguard was this hot chick who was fiercely loyal to her even though he often neglected and abused her. I'm sure he fucked her too, off camera.

Hi Killishandra!

Oh I am so trying to find such a class here. I am not having much luck though.

Fury :rose:

Killi, please let me know if perhaps your teacher knows of any up this way. I would be more than ecstatic to get involved with a good martial arts program.

I"m not really into MA...I don't like to fight, not even playfully. I get.....angry.....yeah, that's probably the best way to put it. I don't fight well. I much prefer Dance as my discipline and excercise (if only I could afford a class right now) I like the artistic expression and the fact that I dn't get hit in the head!

It doesn't have an official name, so I guess the best way to describe it would be a combination of Judo, Karate, Boxing, Kickboxing and Fencing (just to name a few.) The friend who is teaching me decided to incoorporate his favorite aspects of each form of combat, and create a whole new style of fighting.

Not a kick-ass kind of girl yet, but I'm working on it. ;)

I have had fantasies like that many times... But my Dom is trained in MA as well, is over-protective by nature, and would probably (okay, guaranteed) push me out of the way in a dangerous situation, no matter how itching to fight I was.

On the other hand, our third is very petite, submissive, and not trained in any forms of MA. Sometimes when we kiss and she looks up at me all wide-eyed I have these strong urges... where I almost wish I HAD an excuse to kick someone's azz for her sake! LOL. I am thinking this must be how guys feel when they date a girl who is so much smaller and (feels) more fragile.

Dragon - I will ask on Tuesday if he could recommend anything in your area of the island. :)

Hmm... Krav Maga students arrested for practicing their MA...

That's pretty cool.

I think I'm going to keep up with it. Law school orientation starts this week for me, so I want to give myself some time to adjust before I add any extra responsibilities on to my plate, but my interest is definitely piqued.

Wednesday I took my girl to Aikido. She really liked her trial class so I signed her up! They both wanted to work on learning Japanese this year too so it's cool that all the commands and counting are in Japanese.

I want her to learn to fall well. This class will do that! She has already broken her arm like three times in the past.

I may end up taking it too but it's a bit expensive and I'm awfully frugal.

Killi, I enjoyed reading your posts about JKD.

When you have time, please message me so we can talk about why JKD doesn't really exist. ;)

This is a quick little bit my daughter tossed off today. I rather like it too, about a Dojo.

Fury :rose:

The Dojo

The cold outside sends shivers up my spine

The smell of sweat present

The frigid air smothering it

The sound of bodies dropping gracefully on the mat.

Twirling, spinning, twisting, flipping, dancing

I smile as I enter the class.
