Reports have also emerged that Trump regrets choosing J.D. Vance as his running mate as much of the former president's campaign, including the decision to tap the Ohio Senator as his Vice President, has been structured around attacks on Biden.

So the story mentions that Trump regrets his pick, but when discussing it, they mention Trump allies and their regret.

Which is it?

Picking someone who doesn't lead to more votes is never a good move.

The problem for Trump is there is no clear mechanism to drop Vance from the ticket and he has to do it soon before they start printing ballots and get agreement from the delegates. Look for Vance to have a sudden “illness” next week or a “family emergency” that necessitates his withdrawal from the campaign. Trump’s next pick will be a woman. Possibly Laura Loomer or MTG.

I was worried he would pick Nikki Haley before he announced that twink boy was going to be his running mate.

If I was on Harris’ campaign, I’d run ad after ad showing Vance criticizing Trump a while back.
 
Well, J. D. Vance will be gone possibly as early as tomorrow. He just completed an interview with Tucker Carlson where he basically said women without kids aren't real women who contribute to society and end up as crazy cat ladies. In the words of my childless fiancee "Fuck Him!"
 
Whoever Kamala picks will be able to out debate Vance so thoroughly thaey will need to institute the mercy rule. All he has to ask is "Where you lying when you called Donald Trump "America's Hitler, or are you lying now when you say he is the "perfect candidate?" Vance is an anchor and will take Trump with him.

That interview is from two years ago, although it is true that an awful lot of people are seeing it for the first time this week.
