Yesterday I cleaned some peppers bare handed and stupidly realized my mistake a few moments later, all seemed fine this AM until I showered, now both of them are worse than before. What the hell?

The Scoville scale is your friend, friend.

;)

Apparently water makes them worse.

Think you're supposed to use milk because of the fats. This is what seasoned (heh heh) protesters will have in the backpack just in case the boys in blue decide to use their faces as pepper spray target practice.

i was napping when he messed about with them, otherwise i'd have reminded him to wear gloves. i learned that lesson the FIRST year i was here and did a bucket load of the buggers

I have nitrile gloves to wear when I make jalapeno poppers. I always make them by the 2 dozen or so. It only took twice (with the serious hand burn) for me to get the message.

yeah, we have them :)

I once touched my eye after cutting jalapenos, thought for sure I was going to go blind.

You can make a paste using baking soda and water to take away the burn. Milk too, as IK suggested. A little bath for your hands might do you some good. Using full fat, whole milk.

Another thing protesters carry in their backpack is Dawn dishsoap. ;)

As milk and baking soda only remove the burn, not the oils. Like Dawn does. So keep that in your pocket if there's a next time..

Whatever you do, don’t diddle yourself or others until you’ve gotten rid of those pepper oils on your fingers.

Believe me.

Oh I do. Was peeling and eating hot peppered shrimp in Jamaica. Used the men’s room. Sat back down at the bar and a few minutes later my wife asked me what was wrong. “My dick’s on fire!”

Milk in an eye bath works wonders for "jalapeno eye".

I could have submerged my whole face in a big bowl of milk but I chose an ice bath instead.

It was a very Joan Crawford moment for me.

Brown up and crumble some pork breakfast sausage. When at room temp, mix the degreased crumbles in with the cream cheese. Split whole jalapeno peppers down the middle and take out the seeds and the membranes. Fill with cream cheese mixture. Put a narrow slice of Tillamook cheddar on top of the cream cheese. Wrap in bacon and cook on a rack in the oven or on the cooler side of a two zone grill until the bacon is done. Thick bacon isn't great for this, but can be made to work if you stretch it to make it thin out. I like Costco bacon and it's usually 1/2 strip per popper. Wooden toothpicks may be required to hold the bacon in place.

Sounds great. Have not done the pork sausage addition to the cheese before. Will definitely by trying that one. Have you tried cooking them in a smoker?

I have cooked them in the kamado with a little smoke, but I did keep the temperature up to about 375°F. I'm usually needing them done in 30 to 45 minutes. The smoke was okay.

Stinging pain in the extremities is a symptom of The 'Rona.

You should get tested. Pastor probably got it from handling snakes.

That's a fact! I gave my dad a habanero because he likes hot stuff. He dropped it into a jar of pickled peppers he had. He got it out a few days later, ate it and wiped his hands on a towel. I stopped by to see him a few hours later and noticed he was fidgeting in his chair. When I asked what was wrong he said, " You know that damned pepper you gave me? Well I ate it then I had to take a piss. The damn juices burned blisters on my dick!"

He got kinda' angry when I damned near fell off the chair laughing.
