If there is a cooking school nearby, use them for your food. It's very cheap, maybe even get a student from college studying photography. Whatever you decide I wish you good luck and send best wishes to you and your fiancé.

We're going to have family do the barbequeing, and then me, my mom, my best friend and I will do some side dishes like potato salads, and whatnot.

Good, homemade food. I'm excited.

As to photography- a friend of mine recommended her wedding photographer, who is the official photographer of the local BDSM community.

He apparently did a wonderful set of budoire photos as she was getting ready for the wedding, and the cost is right. I may have to consider that.

*CEREMONY- this little cliff overlooking the ocean. About 13 people at the ceremony.

*RECEPTION- in a friend's backyard, a big family barbeque

Dress:

*BRIDE- red. Poofy. Big.

*BRIDESMAIDS- something black, it's up to them.

Shoes:

*BRIDE- barefeet, with mendhi on my feet.
*BRIDESMAIDS- whatever they like.

Suits:

*GROOM- something black, with red accents
*GROOMSMEN- similar

Flowers:

*BRIDE ONLY - haven't decided yet.
*GROOM- boutenier

Invitations:

*Hand-making, I think.

I know I'm missing things, but I'm just trying to gather thoughts.

Find a bridal shop with someone who will help you. I was at one a couple of months ago (I went alone... I hate it when people cry so I refused to take my friends) and they handed me the dress, pointed me to the dressing room and that was the only help I got. TORTURE for someone trying on a Corset style dress.

I ordered mine from a boutique where you get a personal assistant. Amazingly, it didn't cost an arm and a leg (My dress will end up totalling $750 once it's complete - I had to special order it because I'm short).

We are doing a black and white "Night at the Oscars" wedding in September - huge and over the top... red carpet included! My dress is white with black and silver embroidery & trim. I didn't want a simple white dress... there's nothing simple or pure about me

The shop I'm going to is a small boutique, where my future sister-in-law got her dress. I was SUPER impressed with their service- she had a personal assistant, as well, and it went off without a hitch.

She's also a size 2, and stunning... easier to fit than I am... a size 24/26 and buxom.

When they were measuring me for my dress the lady was like...

"Well, according to your bust measurement you're a 12, according to your waist measurement you're a 16, and your hips come in at a size 18... You might have to get it altered when the dress comes in"

I envy you. Every time I try to get my waist to shrink, my chest shrinks. And my hips... *sigh*. I think I'll be ok because I am getting a corset dress & that will give me some adjustability & leeway without having to have the dress totally altered. I love the look too. I think they're great for everyone

Fantastic I do my best not to cry. The one that I bought is very similar in design to a dress that I designed the first time I thought I was getting married. Ended up getting married in a t-shirt and jeans that time around. lol.

This one was what I wanted, but simpler. I saw all kinds that were beaded and weighed like 30 lbs... and I did NOT feel like wearing 30 extra lbs of clothing for an August wedding. The one we got is light, simple, only very little ornamentation, etc.

I feel the same way. Our wedding is mid-september, so while the weather may change some it will still be warm. And I want to party like it's going out of style & wanted the freedom to move around and not feel like I was carrying the weight of the world. I opted for a gown with a lot of embroidery and only some beading. The beaded dresses are gorgeous, but totally not me (I'm a bit of a plane-jane) and weigh a TON.

Oh my god! I have to reply before even reading the thread, just after looking at your first few dress pictures! Jade, I think you would look absolutely stunning in a red dress. Drop dead gorgeous. May I suggest the yellow roses with the red tips? They are some of my favorite. The would look amazing in contrast to the red of the gown. And, if that is your pictures in your avatar, they would offset your hair so beautifully. And some dark red lipstick. Mmm... And hell yes girl, you get a full, big, pooffy gown!

I'm sorta planning a wedding for myself, but do to a lack of money, we are basically just getting the legal stuff done, and then going out for dinner with his parents and siblings, so I am gonna live vicariously through you. And you HAVE to post pictures, even if you black out all the faces.

Today, we bought honey's suit! It's gorgeous. Normally around a $700 suit, that we got for $300, partly through a sale, and partly through bargaining.
