I've been hacked

I'm probably placing this in the wrong forum, and being a newbie, please forgive me; but I just discovered that my work has been posted on another web cite and is being attributed to another author. Just kind of burns me up. Sure, imitation is the greatest form of flattery, but this one is more than a little troubling.

surelywilder, sorry to hear this. Please give us a link to the site so we can all check our works.

Report this via a PM to Laurel or Manu so they can see what they can do to get it shut down.

Sadly this happens all the time.

Post a link to the site.

Also PM Laurel, the site owner with a link to your story here and to the other story. Laurel does not like people who steal from here.

:D Like minds and all that.

thanks to all. I'll find the links and do as you suggested.

A pleasure. Any other problems with this feel free to get in touch with me.

BTW welcome to the AH, sorry it had to be under such lousy reasoning but now that you're here explore and have fun. It's a great place with a lot of great people.

The rogue url is:

There were a ton of lit titles on the site, so I imagine that quite a few of us have been plagiarized.

From what I understand, Manu and Laurel have been trying to get that site shut down for a couple of months now.

In any case, PM them both anyway, if you haven't already. Not much else you can do, really. As sr71plt so often tells people when this topic pops up about once a month, if you post it on the internet, you take a risk of getting it stolen/copied, etc.

Unless laid down money in a copyright office to have your story copyrighted, there's not much you can do. Laurel and Manu do a good job of getting Lit stories removed from sites when they're stolen, but if I recall, that site has been troublesome in the fact that there's no way to determine where to lodge complaints about plagiarism and such.

ETA: A couple of my stories are still there from back during the Summer Lovin' Conest. On a happier note, some of the links for their categories still aren't working.

It would appear they did, but he just moved it to a different web host.

The site looks the same but the URL is different.

Mr. Yung is if anything persistent in his attempts to rip Literotica off.

ETA: I may be mistaken...he's still on a google server. 209.85.252.70 is owned by Google.

OP, I'm sorry to hear about this happening to you.

HOWEVER,

for the love of all that is good and holy, please know that you have not been "hacked". That term is not even remotely correct. Your work was stolen, or reposted without your permission.

Hi, SW, and welcome to the Authors' Hangout. :rose: This has happened to all of us many times. I know that doesn't make you feel better; it just lets you know you are not alone.

This is the right forum, but the word is "Plagiarized."

Snot never even took any of mine... :(

No,NO, NOOOOOOOOO....he stole one of mine. :(

I should look tomorrow...I just had another one post, I'm sure he'll swipe that one too. Dickhead.

They've taken at least one of mine: Getting Nude with Chairman Mao.

Part of my copyright message is still there.

Not flattered

Just taken a look at the site and Samhain Cider and Georgia's English Rose are both there - found them within 30 seconds and didn't bother looking further.

Bad karma to them!

It's the same site as we had problems with a few weeks ago. They apparently only take recent stories and credit Bill Tom as the author. I found two of mine there, but I was unable to open their E/C or Group categories, so there might be more.

Since I am now up to 21 posted chapters here in my pizza boy series, I check that damn site often after finding several of my stories there a few weeks back.

As I suggested in the last thread about this asshole....until (and *IF*) Laurel & Manu are finally successful in nuking his theiving ways, our best defense if to BE SURE to post comments THERE about the thefts and blatant plagerism since they show up on the main entry and listings page.

We need to keep that section FULL of negatives! ;)

That sometimes helps, but the poster of comments would have to join the site, and nobody wasnts to help them by doing that. :(

Just make sure to include author's notes at the beginning or end of your story. It seems this Billtom character copies stories word for word, including author's notes.

Not much difference in that really, except hopefully anyone reading will see the stories are stolen and not original works of the person posting them.

I always include a paragraph at the end of stories thanking the reader for reading it and asking for votes and feedback. I think I will reword that so my name is there and an URL to my index of stories.

Might as well let the plagiarists and pirates advertise for me. :)

I left a comment on my stolen story and didn't have to join the site.

Also the problem there is he only grabs the first page. So there is no ending for those, if any, that go there.
