My publisher finally got my bio page up. YAY! Linky in my profile for those who are interested. It's still pretty barren but it's UP!

Egads, I seriously need to lose a few pounds. Fat old dudes aren't sexy, Not even in a suit and tie. :D

Congratulations! That's pretty exciting.

That's really cool! I don't think losing weight could make the fat old dude any sexier than what I drooled over in that photo. IMHO anyway.

The good with the bad.

The good part is that it is seriously exciting, amazing, fantastic, and all kinds of other superlatives too. Neither my publisher, or me, or anyone else knows what will happen from here but we're hoping for the best.

The bad part is that now everyone knows all my dirty little secrets. Bleah.

That's great news congratulations !
Tried to find it on iBooks but I guess it's not available in the Swedish iBooks yet! Bummer! Looks like a book I'd enjoy.

It's not available yet. Release date is March 25th. Amazon UK will carry it. (Supposedly. I have no idea, that's why I have a publisher who knows that stuff.).

The book is a long read. Fat, like me. It should format to over 500 pages. There are 2 more (fat like me) books in the series too.

It is my first published manuscript. I've written fiction since I took a creative writing class in high school decades ago but never really tried to get published. With this one, some friends urged me to find a publisher. They told me the story was too good to not try. So I did before they did it for me. (They would have too, I have some very assertive friends.)

The process is rather simple. Find a publisher who is accepting slush, send the first 20 pages or whatever amount they want you to send in, then wait 6-12 weeks. If they think it's good and they want to read the whole manuscript they'll ask for it then. Otherwise, the rejection email hits. "We're sorry, your manuscript isn't something we want to publish."

Got that one.

Crap. Ok, let's try someone else. "We're sorry, some of the elements in your plot and storyline are too disturbing for our readers." WTF??? Guts spilling out, hacked off limbs, blood spraying everywhere, or being eaten alive is fine but a PTSD flashback is too disturbing?

The worst one was the rejection saying that they discussed the manuscript between all the editors and couldn't find an imprint (which is publisher speak for a publishing house sub-genre like romance, fantasy, etc.) which my manuscript fit into. That one took MONTHS before I got to be disappointed.

At this point I'm ready to give up, but one of my friends sent me a link to a small publishing house that was accepting unsolicited manuscripts/slush. I reluctantly sent it off again knowing I was going to be rejected yet a 4th time. I got an acceptance letter within 24 hours of sending the first 20 pages. She didn't even need to read the rest of the manuscript. What? Why not? Because it's good? Really? According to my friends who read my stuff; "Yes, it IS that good." ("Oh, and by the way, stop goofing off and WRITE SOME MORE PLEASE! Or else no BBQ for you!")

So, there we are. I'm exposed as a dirty old man with a deranged mind who has vivid sexual fantasies. But then, most of the people I hang out with knew that years ago.

Well there we go, I guess I was too eager! Shame on me ;)

I like your friends, cause if it's 500 pages long, and you managed to keep it all together, your writing must be great! I'm glad you pushed through that 4th time, to hell with the other 3 who declined your book! A lot of published authors have been rejected multiple times before finally scoring someone who believed in their vision!

Ah, that makes sense as to why the amazon links weren't working.

Congrats, though! That's pretty exciting. There were a couple chapters on publishing in Bird by Bird that seemed to describe what you had gone through and how stressful it could be. I am glad you got through that gauntlet of emotions and stress. I am sure it was a pain in the butt.

Well, live and learn. After font change the book will only be around 385-390 pages. Still pretty thick, but not a rival for war & peace. Not that I mind. If the book can lose heft, so can I.

Yeah, when I wrote my first, it was 101 pages on the program I used to write it in, then it turned into 66 pages on gdocs, and 7 pages on literotica. :) Ah well.

That's still quite a big book!

Been there, done this. It's hard to write long(er) manuscripts. You have to be dedicated to creating characters and situations that can, and will, continually move the plot along.

My first works were extremely short stories, less than two handwritten pages. I had to learn that writing is like a marathon. There's the starting line, and the finish line. The STORY should be all about all the things that take place between those two points.

amen!

Oh my God! Stunning news - it's ready. MY BOOK is in the catalog! RIGHT NOW!

I have the final digital copies in my hot & grubbies (which, per the contract I have with the publisher, I'm not allowed to give out. Sorry). The good news is that the links on my page at the publishers website (linky in my profile) are now active for pre-orders.

Unfortunately not available on iBooks, Scribd, or Kobo. Apparently they won't list erotica. BUT, it is available in Kindle format from Amazon US, UK and Canada and Nook format from Barnes & Noble. CreateSpace has it in paperback for those who favor paper over electrons. Remember, pre-order only at this time.

I can ask the publisher to release it early if there is enough demand. However, I'm thinking about having it reviewed by a professional review publication. If I do that, I CANNOT have it released early. I will decide in a few days at most if I'm going to do this. It's expensive and there's a real possibility that the reviewer slashes and burns it even if it's a great book (they've done this before).

So, anyone wanna read a book? I warn you, it's hot; so please keep your fingers above the table at all times during the ride.

I've been collecting physical forms of erotica lately, so I may pick it up from CreateSpace.

Nice picture IMO. Sounds like an interesting book too! The bio is good, IMO.

Thanks. Coming from someone who reads a lot, your comments are good to hear.

Everyone who has read the book has raved about it. I get emails from my manuscript readers almost daily even though there are two more books that have already been written. (I'm currently working on the manuscript for book #3 - it's done, just the edits and some creative changes to be made. And they STILL want more! Talk about unleashing a monster.)

I submitted the book for a professional review so the current release date (March 25th) is the day it goes on sale.
