People still call Facebook, "Facebook". People will keep calling Twitter, "Twitter" however many times Musk changes the official name. He doesn't have as much power as he thinks he has.

Rebranding can take years. Zuckerberg recognizes that long term growth depends upon being more than a social media website. The Facebook product isn’t expected to suddenly disappear but the company has its sights set on much bigger things. META is gaining traction and is ubiquitous in all corporate communications. The new product, Threads, is branded as META Threads, not Facebook Threads. The business press coverage of the company addresses it as META.
Like Zuckerberg, Musk believes his company needs to transform itself. He has teased his vision of Twitter becoming something bigger than a platform that has never attained profitability on a long term, sustainable basis. Exactly where he takes it is TBD but it obvious that continuing the model that’s been in place since Twitter’s founding is foolish. If the company doesn’t change, it will die. Musk gets that. Whether or not he can pull it off is anyone’s guess.
