Hey, SJ! Glad to see you made it out of Port Arthur OK, although switching out for NE Oklahoma seems a bit extreme. I mean, which town is it and what's it next to? I don't know what it's going to be with all these hurricanes. I mean, having to start over in the alphabet and it not even November; is that crazy or what?

Very scary hurricane season. Almost makes me afraid for next year.

The move might be better explained if I had said I'd been itching to move north for a couple of years. I just used this as an opportunity to do it. I wasn't all that fond of southeast Texas. And I couldn't see living somewhere I didn't like in the kind of conditions that exist there now.
A month later and Super Walmart closes at 5:30 in the evening. Not a life or death thing, but a pain in the ass just the same.

I missed your other welcome, so I'm glad to see it here. I've been missing you too! How did your brother fare with Rita?

My brother fared fine, Rita veered far enough northwards, that he incurred no damage whatsoever. He took shelter in the rice mill where he's manager for the night, and at daybreak went back to the house, and was staggered to find absolutely no damage. He called the oldies and myself as soon as he could to let us know he was ok. A great relief.

I'm delighted to hear you have a new home, and you and the kids are comfortably settled in. A kiss to each of you, and my best wishes for happiness in your new home.

If I can figure out how to post pics, here are a few from my apartment complex. The one with the carport is from the parking lot where we normally parked, but a few feet down. All the carports came down like that, luckily very few cars were there for the hurricane.

Btw, the first pic (damage 2) - the wall that's gone was actually all brick. Completely crumbled.
Kinda gives you an idea why the complex was deemed unsafe and was condemned.
