I'm going to give a very brief little summary of what the hell's been going on.

We evacuated to my mom's in NE Oklahoma where we stayed for nearly three weeks. It took about two weeks before we could go back down to Port Arthur to check out our damage and we had NO idea in the meantime how our apartment fared. The good news was that our apartment only had minor water damage in the living room; the bad news is that the entire complex had so much damage that it was condemned by the city. Not a good scenario, and we knew that there would be a housing shortage and higher prices, and instead of living in a hotel room for months, we decided to move north and have settled in the town where my mom lives. It's a nice small town (boring but safe) and there are no hurricanes here!
We went back over the weekend to tie up loose ends and I was completely overwhelmed. Everything is so different, not just from damage but from less workers and less supplies. Even McDonald's is different- you can pick from three things and have to wait ten minutes in line to get your food. It's crazy, and I can't begin to explain any of it to those who haven't been through it. But being there for a few days made me very very glad that we decided to move. It will be many months before things are even close to normal there, and I think for the kids (and my sanity), it's better to start fresh.

So that's it in a nut shell. I missed everyone and I'm so glad to be back online!

lets see, now for the news.
we won the lottery and have begun a new AH compound in Wisconsin. the winters are cold but the houses are warm enough to walk around nakkey in...oh and no hurricanes to worry about.

i won the pulitzer prize for my halloween story on lit. seems alot of people were interested in the humane aspect of killing the snot of society...*grin*
ofcourse that was all...

I understand the goldentriangle thing... I took a friend back down there to see if anything was salvagable.... not much, she was at Sabine Pass or what used to be Sabine pass. they had a shrimp boat.... it's about as mile inland and broken in half....

We had it bad up here, 117 mph winds and 16-21 foot waves in the ake but got through it with little damage... My new truck got hit with a limb, minor and i'm getting a new roof..... shingles and tabs missing.... i need a new one anyway....

Oklahoma ain't bad as lng as you're in the eastern side of the state.... The west and south parts have tornadoes......

I'm glad you left when you did... but i still worried until i heard you were at your moms.....

I'm glad we left too! The Golden Triangle really is a disaster. I can't imagine Sabine Pass because they had it worse than we did. Nothing like seeing gas tanks on their sides and metal roofs peeled back and trees in the middle of people's houses. I hope I never seen anything like it again, and I feel for all the people who got hit by Wilma.
