Remember I told you all that I keep going back to work in the hope that once I reach 832 hours, they'll have to hire me permanently?

BEEEEEEEEEEEP!
Scratch that.

I found out the other day that there's a loop hole. Telemarketing companies are the only ones in the buisness who DON'T have to follow that rule. I can work there until I turn 80, and they STILL won't hire me.

Why would they? Keeping me on my toes like this is much more cheap - and they know that I can't make too much noise, since I do want to work the measly few hours they throw at me!

I'm looking for a new, better job.

Good luck Svenska.. You know, there is lots of work in Canada and America... ;)

You are right hon - a job is a job - but oh to have a good job - or at least one that you like!

What a bitch!

Have you thought of trying agency work, Svenska? It isn't a career in itself, but can lead to one.

The thing is that the agency have very little to lose by hiring you in the first place. If you're a dummy, they simply don't pass you any more work, so no hassle for them.

But they will give you something to see how you do. If you do well (a piece of piss for you), they'll give you more and better stuff. If you keep doing well, they'll start seeing you as an asset (send Svenska and we know they'll come back with more business, 'cos Svenska's good, and so we want to keep her!)

In the meantime, you're getting to see lots of different firms - and letting them see you, which beats a CV hollow - and building a CV as well.

It's a step on the ladder.

Good for you for eschewing telemarketing work, Svenskaflicka. Telemarketers are the bane of my existence. I finally got around to registering my number in the Do Not Call list. I should have done it sooner.

I've done a certain amount of phone work, myself; mainly for the Census and the City Directory. If you find that you have to start your shift with a slug of vicodin to enjoy your job and be good at it, you need to get into another line of work.
