In the past couple of days my Trailer Park has been changed from a quiet little place into a Bikers Convention.

Last week there were a total of four bikes in the park, one of them mine. This morning when I wandered around the park I saw 28 bikes, most with northern tags. During the day I have seen even more rolling in.

Hey it's coming up on Bike Week and we are only a couple of hours south of Daytona. Most of these riders are combining a visit with friends or family with Bike Week.

Earlier this afternoon I was out working on my bike when a couple of guys came strolling down the road. They saw me and came over to chat. They loved my bike and we talked about riding and bikes for quite some time. I introduced them to my wife. (The one is one of the other three bikers who live in the park.) I then invited them for ribs tomorrow, they accepted. (They will be bringing their wives as well as beer.)

As soon as they left I ran to the nearest store and grabbed six (6) racks of short ribs. I brought these home and started preparing them. (My ribs take a bit of work.) I minced several heads of Garlic and a couple of onions. I crushed ten Chipotle Peppers. I filled the Stock Pot with water and added a bit of the mix before bringing it to a boil.

I Parboiled the ribs. (Two split racks per pot.) As I pulled the ribs out of the water I rubbed them with the remaining mix and set them in the fridge to sit overnight.

Tomorrow morning I will be firing up the smoker and putting the ribs in it to slow smoke and cook for the day.

Somehow I get the feeling it will be more than my wife and the two couples showing up at this cook out.

We're going to Daytona on Saturday! :D

You coming out at all?

Not this year unfortunately. Too damned many things going on.

Oh and these guys promised me a couple of shirts and a Baseball Cap from Bike Week. (I have at least one of each from the past 10 years.)

Cat

See? The one year we're sure to go...

Ah well. You'll still have to come see me when you can. We're about an hour-ish from where this shindig is, so not all that far.

Still just outside of Mickey Ville?

I think I fixed the bike. Let me get a windshield on it and you may just see me rumbling up the drive. (I'll be ordering the windshield as soon as I get my Tax Check in the mail.)

Yep. Still here. Looks like I will be for a while, if things go well. Employment happened (pending the background check) and I need to stay on at this place for at least 6 months to get reimbursed the cost of the occupational license.

In the middle of the movie we were watching I had a knock on the door. It was one of the guys I was talking with this afternoon. It seems he and his wife have been a bit busy. He informed me there were several other couples coming over tomorrow evening. Then he asked me what I needed.

Okay, I have 6 racks of short ribs ttreated with a dry rub in the fridge. I also pulled a large Boston Butt out of the freezer and defrosted it. I seasoned that puppy and it too is now sitting in the fridge. (It will be tossed into the smoker bright and early.)

I thought for a couple of minutes and started ticking things off and he started writing.

We also talked about the weather conditions and started laughing.

So far we have 15 couples coming over tomorrow. We will be having Ribs, Pulled Pork, Slaw, Corn Bread, Potatoe and Macaroni Salad. Not to mention Beer, lots of cold beer.

Tomorrow I will be heading down to the grocery store and grabbing all of the Bratwurst and Italian Sausage I can get my hands on.

This party should drive my poor neighbors absolutely nuts. We're forecast to have temps of maybe 50 degrees tomorrow so you know everyone there will be wearing their leathers. I'm hoping to remember to tke pictures.

-ponders-

HOW far are you from us again?

LOLOL

About four hours, give or take a few minutes. (Palm Beach County.)

A bit far for BBQ considering what you have up there. (I seem to remember a couple of places in Ocala and Silver Springs that were drool worthy.)

Okay so it was interesting to say the least.

Yes James the neighborhood went to hell, and we loved it.

We set out Saw Horses covered with Plywood for tables.

A couple of the guys brought over their grills.

A couple more brought over coolers filled with beer and soda. (My wife and I filled half a dozen thermoses with Hot Coffee.)

We went through:

8 Racks of Ribs
1 Boston Pork Butt made into pulled Pork.
6 Bags of Onion Rolls.
4 bottles of BBQ Sauce
2 large bottles of Hot Sauce
3 gallons of Slaw.
2 large bowls of Bean Salad
2 large bowls of Pasta Salad
3 bags of Charcoal (Used in several Hibachis to produce small islands of heat.)
Enough Beer and Soda to fill my recycle bin with crushed cans.
More Paper Plates than I care to count.

We had at least fifteen couples there, all of us standing around outside stuffing our faces, talking and laughing. All had walked down. The Police were called once by a neighbor. (I know which one.) The police showed up, listened for a minute and asked a couple of questions and left.

I think we scared the crap out of a couple of my neighbors, we were all standing around out there in our leathers. (Hey it was chilly.)

It was an absolute blast.

Plans have been made. Tomorrow I will be riding with a couple of the guys. (I have to work this weekend so no riding for me.) Other plans are in the works as well. We shall see how they work out.

How come there was no 'you-show-me-your-tattoo-I'll-show-you-mine' action? Isn't that the whole point of hanging out with bikers? Or at least, biker's wives?

It was an absolute blast.

Bikers are such an amazing breed. Bike Week is one rally i have yet to make. One of these years, dammit....

Glad you had a fabulous time... would love to see pix... you Did remember to take pix?!

Eat barbecue! Amazing! This has to be a first for bikers, who almost always drink their meals.

So did the police stay long enough to eat some BBQ?

Nope, they were busy and had to respons to another call. Something about a political argument going out of hand. You know the kind. Pillows at ten paces and lawyers at dawn.)

Hmmmm, that could be said for some bikers, and yet the same can be said for any other portion of our society including Doctors, Lawyers, Psychologists, Police, etc. etc.

Oh hey wait a minute, most of the bikers I happen to know fit into those catagories as well. Strange that.

Actually I did, I just have to download them to the computer and resize them.

Bike week isn't in the cards for me this year but hopefully next year.

The local bikers park their machines on our seafront and go to eat:

in our Cordon Bleu French Restaurant...
