Do y'all think $79 for a joining fee, and $55/ month is good for a membership to the YMCA for me and my girls?

They have an indoor track, pools, sauna, weight room.. and I can take yoga and step aerobics after work. Plus, I can get a discounted rate for putting my youngest in gymnastics and my oldest in dance.

Whatchall think? Decent price?

I was just talking to soemone abotu this thing last night. The Freakin' YMCA or YWCA charging so much more than a gym charges for the same things. Difference being Kids can attend too. It's gotten so Corporate, the YMCA's around here don't help families in need anymore, like they used to.

Hard for me to say if it's worth it or not, but if YOU think it is, then it is.

Lo - who's not much help I'm afraid

sounds like a good price if the whole family is included. and you get access to anything at any time

I know lobi.. it seems to be about the same price as all the gyms around here, but my dad said it would be better invested at the 'Y'.. plus child care is free instead of $5/hour/kid.

I guess I answered my own question, huh?

When I called them to ask what the prices are, he asked if I was a single mom.. and I said yes, and that was the price he gave me. I'd hate to see what the 'not-a-single mom' prices are. :(

Heck if it's THAT easy to convince you! :D

Actually IF the prices are about the same, you ARE better giving them your money.

It IS possible that YOUR Y is better than ours is here, and actually does help people out. Lord knows the Gyms probably wouldn't use any of that money for that kind of thing.

hey lob.. i've been meaning to ask, whats that little white circle thing above your butt? (hot cheeks that they are :D)

we paid a $75 joining fee.. and we pay $40 a monthly fees (family price.. 11 people on our membership)

bigger cities must charge more...that sucks

something I found out.. the membership we have for the Y here.. doesn't work at other Y's anywhere in the country. I always had the understanding that a member of the Y was welcome to recieve the benefits of all Y's.. not so anymore.

For me.. it's worth the money.. we use it alot (more so now than at first). It's a 15 mile drive to the one we go to (making it a little harder to just up and go).

It's brand new.. (opened less than a year ago).. has 2 pools (olympic size and a kids wave pool complete with a "lazy river ride" and a water slide). During the winter (and summer also) we can take the kids to swim.. while we either lounge at the espresso bar (and watch them through the windows).. swim.. exercise... play basketball or surf the net in the computer library.

If i was to return to work (outside of the home) my daughter would be in thier daycare at a reduced rate. and it's a guarnteed spot.. as long as i'm a member.

Lickerish.. If you think you will use it.. then do it.. but don't waste money on it if it isn't worth it to you.

good luck
:)

Someone suggested you shoot a quarter out of your ass, and you did it? You must be fun at parties! :D

Honey, I AM the party!:p Actually I should have said bouncing off my azz.

Hey! You and someone (Siren?) as I recall are the one's who started the Quarter bouncing months ago. How quickly they forget! :(

I didn't forget! I was winning, too, as I recall. Siren owes me.

i used to go to 24 Hr.. before I got all fat. I didn't like how they pushed all their pills and stuff on me, and wanted me to go on a starvation diet :( Plus they cost a lot (back then).. I've heard good things about Bally's, but the closest on is in Portland. Thats a long drive for just a workout. I think the 'Y' would be worth it just to get a discount for my kids extra-curricular activites.

I just found out that if I volunteer something like 4 hours a month.. I get a free membership for me and the kids.

With your last part there, I think you've definately answered your own Q, huh?

Laurel, Siren, anyone else up for a game of Quarters off the azz? In a new thread of course.

Lo

That is good for a Y. I say go for it. Seems comparable to most gyms around here.

Our Y is 150 down, 75 a month for a family.

Highway robbery.

How about I send ya a certificate for a dozen Krispy Kremes and

:p
