Finally made the Honeymoon decision - we're going to stay at the B&B in Wales where he took me, as a surprise, for our first anniversary... It was lovely, the people are friendly, the food and rooms amazing and I've managed to get us the nicest room with a big bath and views of the lake...

And bed, breakfast and dinner for 5 nights will cost about £600 for both of us - significantly cheaper than previous ideas.

I feel so happy and excited. This is the perfect low-budget solution, we'll do a big holiday for our first anniversary or something

Just thought you'd all like to know, since you'd been so helpful before

We just haven't had the money and the time, but maybe in two years when we'll have the celebration for all our relatives, we'll be able to afford it.

Well they sent a fabric sample the other day and it wasn;t at all what I expected... grainy, course, no sheen - it didn;t feel like silk. I rang them up and tried to explain and they were very friendly and said they'd contact the supplier and see if a different batch of the silk was better

I don;t know, it was hard to tell from a swatch that's only 2 inches square...

I'm worrying <insert embarrassed looking emoticon here>

I can help a little ... it sounds like they sent you raw silk, or silk dupioni (sometimes listed as duppioni).

I made my own wedding kimono in 3 layers, each of a different type of silk. The material alone cost $1000. But it was far cheaper than if I'd had it made, and it was exactly what I wanted.

Where is the wedding going to be? Someplace cool = recommend silk charmeuse. Someplace warm? = silk georgette is better. For your slip -- china silk is so light and breathable, you'll feel naked.

I want silk Zibilene, I asked for silk Zibilene, they (apparently) sent silk Zibilene, but it wasn't like the Zibilene I had seen before...

I like Zibilene because of its sheen, its lightweight nature (I don't want a heavy dress) and it's wonderful crisp texture (I'm having a very full skirt and this gives it a great structure). It also creates wonderful folds - crisp with great shadows.

It wasn't raw silk they sent, because it wasn;t soft and nubbly. It felt like heavyweight polyester. It wasn't right. I just wish I could see a larger swatch.

I don't know if you'd want them to send you a swatch of it to see if it's closer to what you have in mind.

They really ought to kindly send you more than 2" square, though. How can you tell anything from that

Temp sounds much like Illinois. You never know what you're gonna get!

it is made as a strapless dress, but I *hate* strapless (don;t like the look or the insecurity) so I get to choose the straps... as an extra. Halterneck, cross-back or straight over the shoulders...

I know it sounds weird but it depends on your build, and especially your shoulders. If you have "good" shoulders, the halter or cross back would be better, but its hard to say without seeing the aforementioned shoulders
