Yes I am sorry to say the Cat is back to haunt you.
This was the usual good news bad news type of trip, but in this case it was more good news than bad news.
The flight up wasn't bad and we were met at the airport by my parents. They seemed genuinely happy to see us.
When we ariived at their house we put away the suitcase in my old room and were looking forward to a good cup of coffee. My father had other plans though. He loaded me into his truck and off we went to see a freind of his. I was a bit perturbed by this until we walked into the guys garage and he uncovered my wheels for the week. A nice shiny, older Sportster in pristine condition. Yes the Cat had a ride for the week. (You should have seen my wifes eyes when I came rumbling up the drive on this thing.
)
The next day my wife and I did the ride up to Provincetown to check it out again. (It's been a few years.) What an absolute blast we had up there, and my wife even managed to find a smallish Mermaid Sculpture in an Antiques Shop.
The Reunion went well even though my brother didn't show up and my sister did. (More on that later I'm sure.) My eldest Niece had done a great job on setting the thing up and the pictures I had dredged out of my albums along with the ones she copied out of my parents albums were a great hit.
Now my Niece had warned me that she wanted me to make a speech. I agonised over this for several months. I am not a great orator. How do you condense a couples lives into a few minutes? I can't tell you how many speeches I wrote and then threw out. I wanted this to be good, this was for my parents 50th wedding anniversary after all.
My sister stood up and gave her speech first. A rambling thing that seemed to focus more on her and her kids than anything else. Then I stood up. Yes I was nervous, I was speaking in front of some forty people. In this group were several people of rather high social status and others of even higher wealth. One of them is even a best selling Author. My speech focused on family and what it means and how I was taught this by my parents. How they used themselves as examples. I used a lot of the little and not so little things that had happened while I was growing up to illustrate this. By the time I finished my parents had tears running down their faces.
The rest of the trip was a bit quieter although it did have some surprises. (I'll write about them later as well.)
Our flight home was a nightmare of delays. What was scheduled to be six hours of travel ended up taking over 12 hours but we are home now.

Oh and the T.S.A. in a certain northern city will not forget my wife any time soon.
