It's Autumn. What does fall mean to you?

I love Autumn!

I live in Oregon and the landscape is covered with fir trees but in the fall, when the leaves of the oaks and maples start to change, you can see the orange, red and yellow blazes amid all the green. It is so beautiful!

The canning is all done and a pot of soup is always on the stove.

The air gets more crisp and the rain starts to set it. It's very refreshing.

It is also the time when I start baking once again. Mid-October and the house is filled with the scent of pumpkin and maple and cinnamon.

The flannel sheets go on the bed and you don't want to leave the warmth on those cold mornings.

A cup of hot tea and a bowl of hot oatmeal for breakfast with those peaches that you canned in the summer.

Autumn is the best time of the year!

This thread makes me miss Fall.. here in Calgary, we don't really get a fall. The leaves only change to yellow, and it doesn't last very long at all. Hell, we already had 3 days of snow and the leaves hadn't even changed yet.

I miss the maple trees. That vivid punch of colour that just grabs you. Ontario and the Maritimes were fantastic for fall.

falling leaves raked into piles to jump into and roll around in with your sweetheart. :)

or your kids!! :D

It means the end of the humidity that chokes the east coast all summer long. Fall can't get here fast enough. The crisp air is back and we get pretty colors, Halloween, sleeping with the windows open, not sweating the moment you step outside and lower electric bills!! YAY!!!

Good bye summer!! GTFO!!!

I love fall. The changing leaves. Hot cocoa. Sweaters. Sleeping with the windows open while curled under a down comforter. Football. Halloween. Candy corn. Apple picking. Apple cider donuts. Hot tea. Soup. Bonfires. Hay rides. Boots.

I could go on and on, obviously.

Fuck fall!! I take back all the nice things I said. Fall means migraines from all the barometric pressure changes. Fall is an asshole of epic proportions!!

As many on here have already said, the color of fall leaves, though in my case it also means low humidity which in turn means shitty pictures because there is no contrast.

On the bright side it means a bevy of ladies wearing all manner of skirts and dresses with their boots so the eye candy somewhat makes up for crappy Mother Nature. Now if only I could convince some of them to model for me.

Cool nights, sunny days, lots of opportunities for outdoor adventures; just a refreshing change with gorgeous scenery. If it wasn't followed by winter it would be perfect.

Today is a day that reminds me of fall from my youth. Windy, blustery, rainy, chilly.

It means Spring is here!

In South Africa...

In Cape Town it means one day of summer, one day of fall, one day of winter... or all three in the same day. But best of all it means longer days and warmer nights. And flowers everywhere.

Autumn in Kentucky means harvest time. Combines running late into the night for beans and corn. Apple festivals at local orchards with fresh made cidar, pies, etc.

The invasion of everything pumpkin spice.

Longsleeve shirts worn with shorts.

Lazy afternoons basking in golden sunshine.

Autumn means football season! It means the leaves on the trees start turning to these beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. It means warm days and cool nights. It means raking leaves and then jumping in the pile! It means smells of apples and pumpkins. It means warm soups for dinner and baking cookies and pies. It means Halloween with lots of kids dressing up and getting candy. It means Thanksgiving with roasting turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, pumpkin and apple pies and whatever else people decide to cook! It means gathering with family and being thankful for what you have.

And this year it means the first year of going through all those holidays without my dad. So there will be a bittersweetness to all those things this year.

Boots, sweaters, scarves, football, and good cuddling leading into great sex haha

Football, the changing colors of leaves, time for rakes, and a slight chill in the air

Autumn is finally here again!:cattail:

the Japanese maples turning red
pumpkin spice latte
knee socks, scarves and mittens
an extra quilt on the bed, and little ones snuggling beneath
my cosy fleece-lined clogs

'boyfriend weather' :)

Here in California's central Sierra Nevada mountains, fall means (hopefully) the end of fire season and a slight relief from drought. I was nearly evacuated from a monster brushfire a few weeks ago, statistically the 6th worst in state history. Now we're getting rain every few days and we gaze rapturously at the surviving forest around us, and try to prepare for the monster El Niño storms to come this winter.

What does autumn mean here? It means the globals weather system hasn't broken down. Yet.

Crisp breezes, changing colors, the smell of backyard bonfires, Hot cocoa and hot apple cider, cozy sweaters and blankets. I love the fall!

I adore autumn. The trees are luminous, the air is cool and I can wear scarves again. Boots, coats and sweaters come out to play. Its so cozy.

Fall also means the influx of new students. I live in a college town, and during the summer it's only locals. Autumn practically doubles our population.

The only downside to fall is cold and flu season. This year knocked me on my ass!

Im in So Cal and Autumn might be coming around. I was in the Sequoias for 3 days and loved it, it snowed. Autumn is My favorite season.
