I got home from work today to see an interesting tableau.

Scrapper was sitting on top of the fridge. No not laying there relaxing but sittng there and watching the other cats who were wandering around.

It took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on. The cats were having one of their "Tag it's yout turn to be battered" games. Scrapper is the smallest of the herd yet she keeps trying hence her name. Today she had retreated.

I picked her off the fridge and held her for a while. She was happ to relax next to me, and yet I could sense she wanted down. Finally she hopped off my chair, made her way to the food bowl and started eating even while keeping a wary eye out.

Squeak and Magi came in from the patio and saw her there. They charged across the floor in attack formation only to be met Critter, Smokey and Bubba. They sat down between the other kittens and Scrapper effectivly(sp) stopping their attack.

Now the thing that was incredible about this was Smokey and Bubba don't get along with the kittens or Critter. Now they were standing between two of the kittens to stop their attacking the third, and doing it with Critter.

It's always amazing what I can learn from my cats.

Cats are wise creatures. Watching mine, I can see why the Egyptians revered them so much. Playful, arrogant, beautiful, and so loving when they feel like it. Seba always seems to know when I need a pick me up and comes strolling in with her adorable little mew, letting me know I'm loved.

For a moment, Cat, I thought you were talking about threads in the AH.

Yes, I love the cat group dynamic.

The tiniest of our group is mama kitty. Though dwarfed by her sons, especially Chewie who is double her weight, she kicks their asses with great regularity.

She has the sweetest smile and the tiniest little feet and she is a powerful force.

They are so fun to watch.

I came home a few days ago completely beat. I had lost a patient, one of the very few that had gotten past my defenses. To say I was hurting would be an understatement. I sat down to do some surfing and the next thing I knew I as surrounded by cats.

I had cats in my lap, I had a cat crawling across my keyboard. I had Magi on the back of my chair playing with my Pony-Tail. I couldn't stay upset. How could I?

We're in the middle of a power struggle in our herd. Juliet (Burmese, neurotic) has been enjoying flogging the daylights out of the two young tackers, Billy and Harry.
Harry is now getting big. He is no longer scared of her. Suddnely Juliet is spending the nights curled up in bed with me again, instead of prowling the house looking for sport :D
