Okay it's the third of July here and it sounds like a damned war zone outside right now. I know a lot of it's fireworks but some of it sounds suspicously like firearms. (Not a good thing.) My cats are hiding inside, they wouldn't even come outside while I was cooking earlier, and I found myself flinching from time to time. Hmmmm, I think I'll be glad when I move out of here.

Luckily the dog is barking louder than the fireworks. :D

Uh... I thought this was all tomorrow? it's only barely the 4th here now, and I'm approx 6 hours ahead of you lot.

You're right, I'm thinking, make that hoping they're just starting early.

The 4th of July after my ex got back from Iraq was pretty hard to watch. We spent it with a bunch of his buddies and their wives watching a large display put on by the city. We were leaning against our trucks and most of them spent the night flinching and shuddering as they looked for cover.

Tonight, my dog thinks we're under attack. He keeps trying to force me into my room. Tomorrow ought to be fun as well.

The fireworks have been going for several nights now. It's mildly annoying, especially when some people are setting off those giant loud explosions a couple of blocks away.

You know, the fireworks with no sparks, no whistles, no pretty display of colors.

Just BOOM.

Dickheads.

Tonight we're in the middle of severe thunderstorms. Damaging winds, large hail, flood warnings.

There has been a slight break in the storm (although I can hear rounds 3, 4, and 5 getting ready to go) and what does our entire neighborhood do?

Run outside and see how many fireworks they can set off while dodging lightning bolts and hail pellets.

Idiots.

It's a war zone here, too. In this neighborhood, it usually starts the week before the 4th and doesn't stop until a week and half or so after.

I live on a military base, people would get into too much trouble if they were putting off fireworks. (yippee!!!) my daughter did do some of those little snap pop things though.
