But the Unregistered being who started this thread is only stating what Sharon has declared openly.

He wants the total expulsion of the Palestinian people from Palestine, as did Ben Gurion, and all Zionists going back to the 1880s.

I do not think it is all about land and propagation per se. That is too easy. There are three religions tied to that area, Jewish, Muslim and Christian.

I hate to even post because I do not have the scripture to back it up, but in my bible thumping days decades ago I remember many a sermon regarding the punishment the US would see if she "turned her back" on Isreal. The current conflict may well be about land grabbing and the like but the US involvement is supported by many right wing christians as well as the Jewish sector. Some see it as a spiritual insurance policy for the country. The ones beating the "End Times" drum say when the US stops supporting Isreal it will be the begining of the end.

I do not want to believe all Jews hate Muslims, all Muslims hate Jews and Americans and the like. Sweeping comments like this are dangerous. In my opinion there are no sweeping generalities that can capture the religious, social and political situation in that area and the reason why the US is involved.

It seems like many religions have just enough hate in their doctrines to make their followers lash out at someone;
someone is an infidel, someone is unclean, someone is a sinner, someone is different. A heaping dose of tolerance would be a good place to start.

Palestine needs it's own state as does Isreal. The US needs to support both countries. Ideal solutions for a less than perfect world.

I agree - Land is a sideshow, Religion and especially Jerusalem are at the heart of the problem.

Jerusalem is the most significant religious site in the world for Jews.

Jerusalem is the third most significant religious site in the world for Muslims.

For those who have never been to Jerusalem, the 'Wailing Wall' (so significant to the Jews) is just below a revered Muslim temple.
Orthodox Jews believe that the second coming of Christ can only happen after a Jewish temple has been established on the exact site of the Muslim temple.

So all-in-all you have a nightmare situation!

Sharon's government probably won't last the term, but then Israeli governments rarely do. Israel has proportional representation so the government is always made up of alliances between different parties. Sharons is an alliance of right, centre and ultra-orthodox groups, his government will fall when a group backs out, more likely to be a right wing party pissed off that he isn't being even harder on the Palastinians.

Agreed they have been kicking the shit out of the other Arab states for the past 40 years. They could have conqured large parts of Egypt if they wanted to and no one could have done anything about it.

As of now I think Isreal has given back all the land they occupied. They withdrew from the last of the occupied territories recently.

Now this was just after he created heaven and
earth so he must have had his priorities..WHY
then is marajauna still illegal to the U.S.

It only works with fools that take it at face
value according to their religeous beliefs. My

that don't work with me. What works with me is
seeing soldiers with guns shooting at kids that
can only show how they feel about things by

soldiers help form the terriorst that is
consumed with hatred. The same kids grow up to
also hate the people who give them the guns to
shoot at them. Thats ole USofA. I am part of that
USofA. No more no less than you , if you are, and

an Isreali that think you have a right to the
Palestianians land. What also works with me is
seeing a little kid die on worldwide TV, shot by
Isreali soldiers, supported by US taxpayer money.
Like some people I haven't been holed up playing

like the support our government gave to right
wing dictators the world over to enslave people
just as we are now supporting a government which
is enslaving other people. To me that is wrong.
