I managed to get a cold this weekend after having JUST shaken off an earlier cold in time for Christmas. New Years this time was just me, my gf, the cat, a ton of Chinese delivery and Eddie Izzard on Netflix.

The fireworks are good, but the presentation is ruined by the bloody advert at the front.
On a more serious note, what IS the needle (apart from an impressive structure).

It was built for the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle. The top floor of the "saucer" is the observation deck while the floor below that is a restaurant that rotates around, giving you a full 360 degree view of the Seattle skyline while you dine.
