In case you all were not aware, it is time again to nominate someone for MIP.

So far, only Angeline and I have made a nomination here----- Most Influential Poet 2011.

I realize that the forum population may have dwindled, but hey, there are some awesome poets hanging around, in fact, it is almost like someone weeded in there and got rid of all the thorny plants that stung my feet whenever I walked through. But, dammit, I WANT EVE BACK!!!

Nominate someone who affected you with his/her work. you read it, you enjoyed it, it made you laugh, cry or scream. It's only right, right? ;)

keep writing and nominate someone because the writers already have 4 pages of nods and there are only two nominations, ( not pages of) just 2! but they are really good ones! I posted the link to get there, so go for it.

:cattail:

oh, and out of curiosity, when the poets and story writers " win" the yearly award for best poem or story in category, didn't they used to get a cool little teal icon W? I have not seen any on the pieces that won last year. Did the people in charge just stop giving them or what? If you know, please share, lol.

What happened to last years MIP? I don't even see them announcing 2011's monthly contest.

They are WAAY behind on the monthly category announcements and last years MIP was a tie, I think, not even sure who got it.

I found that award announcement by accident....

Good to see you, m'Dear. I hope you are doing well. I've missed you and your poems. This is the first time my computer has worked longer than 10 minutes in almost 2 months. I have been going to the liberry to use theirs, but was getting worried about their "monitoring" procedures, if ya know what I mean.

take care sweetheart

"They" are up to April 2011 in the category nods, so congrats to the following-

Erotic Poetry - I am not your friend / Desejo
Illustrated Poetry - What Do I See? / bulltlr
Non-Erotic Poetry - TIE: carving a poem / seannelson and Stubbornness / fridayam

:)

I went back and checked and cannot find the thread with the winners from last year, but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think

MIP was shared between bulltr and chip. but don't hold me to that....

maria's correct, it was a draw between myself and bulltr. no W's awarded though i didn't know anything about them, nor about it being down to us to announce the contest. i assumed it was either a mod's thing or anyone spotting it would announce it.

Aw, damn porn filters. I'd been wondering where you've been. I live in highly religious state so I'm sure I'd never be able to get on Literotica if I were even in an internet cafe or free wifi place. Too bad the PF&D folk have no where to post that has no porn search tags. Well now I know what's going on with you. You take care too. :rose:

Hm, I haven't seen announcement thread in the awards forum for 2010 Reader's Choice, just the voting threads, which by the way kept having the voting deadline pushed back a few times over. That's where I got that MIP was skipped last year.

I should vote myself since I don't see that my nominee isn't mentioned yet.

Does anyone find it oddly coincidental that one of the rare years that contains the maximum amounts of Friday the 13ths happens to also be the year that is voting for the 13th annuals? And you really need to consider that this year (2012) is the 13th in the millenium.

awwww, thank you Neo :)

I have to say, I didn't think there was any state that was more intolerant than South Carolina. We are up to our chins in Southern Baptists, which I was raised as and that very sect turned me against organized religion forever and a close second would be Texas. Man, there are some uptight people in both states, but I guess there are extremists everywhere.

BTW, you have been nominated for most influential writer this go 'round ;)

and last year, Chip won non-erotic poem of the year and one of mine was erotic poem of the year, don't recollect who had the others.... I got my gift card, did you get yours Chipbutty?

It was 40 ( US) dollars in Amazon credit. I used mine for seasons three and four of Supernatural. Yeah, I know, I am way too old to be lusting over those guys but dayum, ever time I see them, I imagine you Neo, as sort of a cross between Sam and Dean,. In my mind, you are probably the sexiest man on Lit. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it There should be a category for that- " nominate the person whom you think is the sexiest writer or poet on Lit"

Well, we just had a wicked storm here, in fact, it has been kinda yucky all day, but I rather like the rain, it reminds me of rivers, and that leads to oceans and then I begin to imagine the Earth before humanity came to life. I would love to go back before the dinosaurs and see what it looked like, just a planet, developing life, clean, pure and devastatingly natural.

I have not checked to see if anyone picked up Wednesdays, but if my computer will comply, I will do the rec's tomorrow, unless I find the thread and see that someone picked it up.

Looks like hubby and I will soon be moving to NC, but not the part I want to move to, his job is in Charlotte, should be over by October and the next one is in Hendersonville, which is midway between Asheville and my hometown, Tryon and that is where we plan on retiring after the job in Hendersonville. Hubby is getting old( ten years older than I am ) and he has some health problems but stress will probably take me out first. Just being around my siblings is going to kill me. I have told them we are moving to Maryland just so they cannot find us when we go.

I know of several poets from here that live in that general area ( Asheville/ Hendersonville) and have visited one of them a few times. I won't mention her name since she isn't on Lit anymore and values her privacy.

I hope you are all doing spectacular, I miss you all. Keep up the good work and get published!! So many of you are so very good, you know you can do it. I have begun to get my "stuff" ready again and am preparing myself for an onslaught of rejections, and no, I am not being negative, it just goes with the territory. I think it was Angeline that told me until I have my wall plastered with them, I won't feel complete, ( or something to that effect.) I love that woman, she is an angel.

anyway, hugs to you all, nominate someone you admire so people who don't even try won't win, did that make sense? I hope so. :)

peace out

Hey Chip :)

I saw that no one other than Angeline had nominated a poet so I did and then made this thread to get out the news. I wasn't trying to take over anyone's "job" or a mods duty or anything like that. I just wanted to let you guys know that nominations were, are, being accepted and I figured no one knew but me and Ange, so I made the little post. I promise I wasn't trying to usurp anyone;s authority. ....or whatever.

I don't ever recall, in the ten + years I have been here, that it was in fact, anyone's job in particular, just whoever wandered over to the awards thread and looked about. That was all I did and saw that nominations were being accepted. It sucks to see all the activity and no one speaking up for the poets, ya know? I was only trying to be helpful.

Hope you are doing well!
