I know this sounds crazy but both my wife and I are suffering from sore tongues. No we didnt stick them anywhere that we weren't supposed to. :D
We both have the same symptoms and they started at the same time as well. Our tongues feel like we drank something really hot. Instead of only being in one place though it is all over. We both have these little ulcer type bumps too. When I bite down i can feel some of the places on my tongue fit right in with my teeth as if i had been biting my tongue. This started Sunday after we had both been at a bar the night before at our old college hangout with some friends. We drank pretty heavily but didnt drink anything that we dont normally drink at home. Thats the only thing that I can think of that would have caused this but I cant find anything like that out on the net anywhere as a cause. Each day since Sunday our tongues feel a little better and mine is pretty much fine except for the tip.

Any ideas what this might be or what caused it?

Could be there was some irritant in something you drank, thouhg others should also have the problem. Did someone water the beer with something?

Of course, the sooner you do this, the better... May be too late now...

Get 1 appointment with a doctor for BOTH of you, saying that you both got the same problem at the same time, and you are afraid it might "ping-pong" if you both are not treated at the same time.

I have had similar once...

...was either something I was allergic to in the beer, or improperly cleaned taps. I took benadryl and it went away.

It sounds like an allergy, but it is unlikely that you both developed the same allergic reaction at the same time. More than likely, it is an infection of some sort that one of you passed to the other.

Go to a doctor. If you can't afford a doctor, rinse your mouth with warm salt water and follow up with Listerine. It may burn like hell, but it's better than letting the infection move elsewhere.

Let us know what happens.

i think it is either mild dehydration ( i played golf alllll day Saturday and she was out by the pool all day in South Georgia 95 degree weather)

or

something that we both ate

i dont think it is the beer....we were drinking buckets and we told them to leave the caps on the bottles that were in said buckets

anyways...just glad to know im not the first person to have this before.....its actually almost totally gone as of this afternoon....mouth feels like i ate something with a ton of ketchup on it thats all

thanks guys

i found out that too much beer can actually "burn" your tongue
I was talking to a friend and his wife said she had the same thing one time and she described it exactly as what I have. So aparently you can drink too much Guiness....who knew???
guess ill just have to drink more to build up my tongue tolerance :D
