So. My mom is currently in the hospital with pneumonia, courtesy of a co-worker who came to work sick and infected two-thirds of the department. Unfortunately, my mom's employer actively discourages employees from using their sick days, so people regularly come in to work when they should stay home.

The kicker? It's a medical facility.

I'm really ashamed that my fellow Brits are so boring that they're more interested in just standing around drinking and smoking than actually getting up to dance.

Life is pretty damn simple, isn't it? I'm the one that is making it more complicated by the moment. Why? Because I live for challenges. I love being the person that solves the problem, makes the effort, gets the girl, ect... But honestly, I really just want to be able to get up in the morning, go out on a balcony and read a book, maybe go out for a light jog or walk, cook some food, and look at this world that I keep forgetting is so very very elegant in it's simple complexity.

Happy birthday!

And where in the wide wide world of sports do you get those AVs?? :D
This one was posted on one of my other online haunts. One woman was making fun of maternity/pregnancy photoshoots and someone posted the pic in a response to that thread. I knew I had to steal it for Lit. :D

It's truly an Eilan classic.

I hate that I cry when I get super-pissed.

 :(

I do that too but I learned a trick from a seminar on female empowerment they sent me at work. If you feel like you are going to cry and you don't want to, look up and to the right and squeeze your butt cheeks. No, I'm not kidding. It apparently diverts your brain and gives you a second to calm down. The rest of the seminar was a commercial for the books they were selling, but that little tidbit has come in handy a couple of times. :rose:

That sounds like a really good idea. I was so mad the other day I could have cracked walnuts if I had clenched my butt cheeks. :D

For the first time in the years that I've been with my employer, something happened at work that really, really pissed me off. It wasn't related to my students, my classes, or even my job in general--just a lying POS staff member that I rarely have to deal with. Fortunately, I didn't completely fall apart until I walked in the front door and my husband took one look at me and asked me what was wrong.

Yeah....where has he been? His absence from the site is noticeable and sad. Hope we hear from him soon.

Make that a triple. He is probably under the bed again, doing his King of the Dust Bunnies gig. I've threatened him in the past with a small herd of dachshunds trained to race under there, grab him by the leg of his jammies, and drag him out, (and then back under and out again, strictly for amusement purposes). Looks like we need the dog whisperer again.

Quolly bear, I hope you are reading this and just lurking. The arfs are coming for you man.

It worked for me when they called me in the office to tell me they were a) firing my best friend at the company, b) temporarily giving me her territory to manage on top of my own, c) hiring someone else, but giving them my territory since it is nice and tidy (which after the last rep took a year to get that way) and giving me the big tangled mess to fix again for the same money I'm making now. If I would have had a baseball bat handy, I would be in jail right about now.

Wow. . . :(

Blurt:
One of my oldest daughter's classmates died yesterday. I've been hugging my girls a little harder today. :(

I'm missing the Q, terribly.

I agree completely. It may be time to stop being Mrs. NiceGuy, and send out a posse (no pun intended) armed with whips and chains. Though we run the risk of him liking that.

Q, you know we love you... but you're trying my patience. :(

I don't think I've ever been quite so angry and disgusted by the politicians (and why do I feel slimy by even typing that word?) in Washington.

Self-serving assholes, every last one of them, who care nothing at all about the welfare of the American people.

Thats the problem with all our elections. The choice isn't the lesser of two evils, it's the evil of two lessers.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 was fabulous. I'm so damn tired I could hurl myself on the floor. Vive le cafe'!

Wow. Words fail.......sending e-hugs to you and your girls.

Nods. The fuckers. My sister and I are talking about pooling our resources to send to our grandparents in case the checks don't make it out.

We're going tonight! Can't wait, can't wait! But I'm also a little sad. It's the end of an era.

Take the big box of kleenex. I was a wreck. At least I wasn't sobbing out loud like some of the people in the audience. My son did feel the need to look at my daughter and I, who were both sitting there with tears down our faces, and say, "Would you two get a grip? It's a MOVIE!"

It was so good, I'm considering dropping the money to go see it again--and I never ever do that.

I didn't sob, but yes, I shed a few tears. I thought it was awesome and I would definitely go see it again. Oddly enough, I overheard one person make the comment that she thought it was the worst HP movie ever. Huh? Does not compute.
