There will be lag?…pfft…we’ll wait

It was a good day. For the “North”, we have our locals to back us, from the polars, lending themselves---keep the fresh air coming, bring on a small storm, we really haven't had our winter yet.

Bubby knows something's wrong. He paws at my shoulder and looks at me with concerned little eyes. How is it pets always know when you're sick?

:rose: My Bubba is always there to comfort me when I am upset. I remember after one surgery, they tried to keep my dog in the kitchen but she snuck through the bathroom into the living room and carefully got on the couch next to me and laid down very gently, so as not to jostle me. Pets are wonderful.

Excellent doctors visit. If I can keep bringing my blood pressure down, it may be at a normal point in a week. I'm doing everything I have control over, no sodium, low sugar, plenty of potassium, walking, meditating, refusing stress. Doc's not worried there's imminent danger but I'd sure feel better if it got a little bit lower.

I don't like tameness in people. It's so utterly boring. I'll take my chances with the ones who haven't been tamed down. Even if they hit you in the face, they are at least honest about it.

Why do I have to make the running in community affairs?

Last year a local shopkeeper was repeatedly supplying alcohol to minors (and charging them a premium for it). All the local teenagers knew that the shop was the easiest place to get alcohol.

The license was revoked last year. The shopkeeper had been warned several times. The Police had sufficient evidence to get the licence revoked several times over but made a mess of the paperwork and most of it was declared invalid. Just enough valid evidence was left to get the licence revoked.

The shopkeeper has applied for a license to supply alcohol again. The Licensing Act means that IF there are no objections then the licence will be granted.

I objected, quoting all the evidence used last year to revoke the licence. On the last day for objections, our local Police finally put in their official objection - because I had copied my objection to them.

If I hadn't objected, no one would have, and the shopkeeper would have had a licence to sell alcohol again.

It is against the law to sell alcohol to under-18s. The youngest person to buy had bought a week after his 13th birthday (and looked about 10).

Aw...you missed my call. I had coffee alone.

Should check weather for weekend, try...no no...do; wage on the list stacking up. How did all's week go?

Give up chewing wood, I've heard unpleasant things.

They are putting a Remax in the store beneath my office. With any luck, there will be some hot real estate chicks working down there :D

Ugh. Someone shoot me. :(

Pufftail's down here though. She'll keep me company till my head gets too heavy to hold up.

And what is so difficult about making lists of your own? So distribution won't do it...they have their reasons, bullshit or otherwise. So what? You guys need your hands held? You need to be spoon fed? Are you so slow that you're incapable of making a physical note every time you're told something in our fleet has changed? Why *should* that be distribution's responsibility? Why is *everything* either their responsibility or mine? Why can't *you* take some initiative here and help yourownselves out?

I hate to say it, but I can't blame the managers for treating you two the way they do. They have neither the time nor the patience for whiners.

I have FINALLY succeeded at something, actually 3 things

1. I have successfully manged to fuck up my life

2. I have successfully managed to fuck up the life of the one person I have ever truly loved

3. I have successfully isolated myself from everyone I have ever known.

Yep.

Finally...I am a success.

It doesn't feel good.

I'd rather be a failure.

Oh wait...yeah...I'm that too.

I know it's a small thing, but I really do appreciate the playful thoughtfulness of your Christmas gift.

Ah, Bagheera. Simply beautiful.

Everybody knew Bagheera, and nobody cared to cross his path; for he was as cunning as Tabaqui, as bold as the wild buffalo, and as reckless as the wounded elephant. But he had a voice as soft as wild honey dripping from a tree, and a skin softer than down.
—Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book

:rose::heart: Love you, HP.

I've just booked a self-catering holiday in Paris for a week in October.

Cost? One hundred pounds including insurance for travel and car breakdown.

It only took me three hours on the internet as the website was so heavily used and kept dropping out at various stages through the booking.

Now to book the ferry crossings...

We went to the same self-catering place last year and had a wonderful time. The two of us had a six-berth caravan next to the Seine.

The train station is ten minutes walk and then a twenty minute ride to the centre of Paris. Drive in central Paris? Not bloody likely. If I could find anywhere to park it would cost me far more than the daily train fare which gives me a day's unlimited access to trains, metro, buses and even the funicular to Montmartre.

Thank you, Sun newspapers.

For some reason, having naughty ideas about the actresses on kids shows seem even naughtier, which then takes the ideas into darker realms.... talk about vicious cycles.

All will be well.

If wearing boring cotton panties, no bra and sweats gets me as much attention as wearing sexy panties and bra and nice clothes, why bother with the dressing up?

I would like whoever is in charge of the english language to redefine "sexy" and "geek" with narrower definitions please.

And anyone being nominated as a "sexy geek" should be able to build their own computer, get it on the network, and connect to a shared printer as a absolute minimum.

I'm finally feeling a little better, so I ventured out to grocery store this afternoon to pick up milk and bread. On the way home, I stopped to fill up the car at the corner gas station. I had also brought along the container for the snow blower to fill up, too. That done, I stood next to the car for a moment and pondered whether to go in and buy some lottery tickets. I'm aching to get to the casino and twenty dollars on lottery tickets would be a good enough fix for the time being. So, in I went and bought four, five-dollar tickets. I looked at all of them before making my final decision and chose the same ones that I had bought at Christmas time which had a fifty dollar winner in it. I was feeling a little greedy.

Long story, short: The first ticket was a loser, the second ticket was a twenty dollar winner, the third ticket was a one-thousand dollar winner, and the last one was a loser. Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Now, I have to wait until the office opens up on Tuesday. :D

I am so freakin happy!
