Sideline from research

I was looking for references to the nymph Galetea (of Acis and Galetea).

One of the links led to Pygmalion's animated statue Galetea and the parody "Galatea, or Pygmalion Reversed" produced at the Gaiety Theatre.

The Gaiety's manager, Hollingshead, called himself a "licensed dealer in legs, short skirts, French adaptations, Shakespeare, taste and musical glasses."

He sounds as if he would have been at home in the Authors' Hangout.

My brother-in-law was there, but more for clerical duties as far as I have heard.

With each passing day, I begin to wonder why I visit this site anymore. The anger, hostility and bickering intensifies almost to the point of blurring out any positive aspect of the AH......It makes me sad.

The sad thing is more that I'm making up things for myself to do. Apparently, I feel lazy if I'm not busy even during vacation. Maybe I should put "relax and enjoy the calm before the chaos of back-to-school" on my could-do list.
