Baby kicked my rib, between that and the coughing it irritated it wicked bad. Ended up feeling stupid taking an ambulance to the hospital across the street...But midwife didn't want me walking just in case it was loose...Now I'm on percaset, however you spell it. Had to cancel counceling appointment because I can't drive while on it, hopefully things will get better. Spent much time in the maternity ward, got IV to try to flush system, got ultrasound on kidney's for possibility of kidney stones and just like I thought it wasn't. Apparently I also had a few irregular contractions, not surprised I didn't notice considering the pain I was in. I just have to tell myself that this will get better. One more day of work before I'm on maternity leave...

Mostly I was thinking about a friend trapped in a loveless and sexless marriage, and how this friend seems to fear a)the unknown, b)what others will think, c)etc. and so this person stays in the marriage. This person fears, and so this person tolerates a helluva lot just to stay where this person is.

And then, that led me to think of the post 9-11 world, especially in America. How in the hell do we tolerate the Patriot Act? Or Homeland Security? Or, for that matter, a war based on lies and an overinflated ego?

Do we fear "terrorism" that much?

For many people, it's often easier to stay with wha't familiar, even if it's not all that desirable, rather that face the unknown. There's a certain comfort to the known, even if it's bad. At least you know what you're in for. But the unknown...

To the first, that is probably why I still live with my parents.

To the second, I would love to hammer that quote into a few peoples' skulls.
