IMHO, belly dance is best done at home. Alone. With the shades drawn. That way you can turn the music waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy the fuck up and just shake whatcha got, and not worry about looking like an idiot in front of other people.

Besides, it's fun that way.

I really did enjoy doing it at home in the morning, before going to work. So I'll definitely start that up again. However, I enjoyed the classes too; the whole atmosphere was really fun and positive, with plenty of room for error. The teacher's motto was "If you forget the step, just do your own thing". If I can find another class that's as enjoyable, I'll go again, only because I like to get the technical side as well.

Plus I teach 8th grade, so I constantly look like an idiot in front of people who don't hesitate to point it out (let's just say I'm very clumsy)

If you lived where I used to, I could give you the name and number of my instructor. She's a really oddball friend of mine, but loves classes where people aren't afraid to screw up. We just laughed at each other and went on with it.
