I took it yesterday, i heard it rattle to the floor this morning when my duvet whipped the table...but i just rolled over and went back to sleep...and they aren't on the floor anymore :(

im hoping i put them on my bed under all my crap and i find them there later...*crosses fingers*

So, what is the Christmas Spirit? The Christmas Spirit says, "Fie on all that! I'm fighting back! Look! Fire to get through the longest night! HAH! Look, a goose and dried fruit and spices to actually enjoy! HAH! Look, I've found evergreens, color! HAH! Look, music, dancing, games! HAH!" And gift giving. Family members make secret presents for each other ... everyone waits for that day when they'll get and give those secret presents. What excitment in all this dreariness. What an event! And you get something new! If you were stuck for weeks on end in a little house with your family, and you very rarely got something new and special, this would be a most marvelous treat.

In the end, the Christmas Spirit is about lifting everyone's spirit. About, well, having a party and celebrating that you're alive at a time when the rest of the world is dead. It's infusing flavor into a world of bland food, color into a world of white and brown and gray, fun into a world of dreary survivalism and camaraderie into a world of depression, fears and quarrels.
 
To the previous post I will emphasize this historical note that 3113 alluded to: Our ancestors were indeed fighting back against darkness itself, literally. The days in Northern Europe are very short, and imagine what that was like before electric lights, flashlights, before candles even: All you had for 18-20 hours a day was the dull orange glimmer of a smouldering fire in smoky hut. Darkness was a profound enemy and terror. "Things that went bump in the night" were everything and everywhere, and there was no relief.

It's a very gloomy day outside here but all the lights are on in my house and I've have colorful christmas lights strung around the living room since the week after Halloween. I'm fighting back!

Nope but I got a little diva with a temp you could borrow. She'll melt the ice in a few seconds;)

And when did she finally start feeling better...yeah right at bedtime. Now she wants to play :rolleyes:

I've never had so much trouble finding something I'm willing to buy at full price in my entire life... *sigh*
 
I think I over did it between mambo last night and my power walk today..ouch..my feet hurt.

People have a certain responsibility towards threads they start. Even if they start them at 3:34 am, so they can't just abandon them and go sleep. :p
