Nope. You're a sweet person, what I've seen of you. You can hang out here without being an author really. A lot of people do. Hope you feel welcome here.adetaildiva said:I'd like to find somewhere that I belong. I'm not creative enough to be an author & not experienced enough to be a real editor. Well, it's official. I'm pathetic.
Post, write, edit. Offer to read when people ask for an opinion 'on their crap'. Comment on Story Discussion Circle until you have enough confidence to ask for a critique on your own writing. Be judiciously flirtatious, if that's your thing.adetaildiva said:I'd like to find somewhere that I belong. I'm not creative enough to be an author & not experienced enough to be a real editor. I don't consider myself that good of a writer but I put my stuff out there anyways. Why? Because the only way to improve is to just do it and take the criticism with an open mind. That doesn't make me pathetic, as your predicament does not make you pathetic.adetaildiva said:I'd like to find somewhere that I belong. Thanks! I really appreciate it! It just feels like such a family around here that I'm afraid of rocking the boat in my efforts to find my footing.egelante said:The best way is probably just to post and be friendlyI noticed that someone else mentioned that they tend to avoid the political threads... Everyone here has been incredibly friendly and welcoming to me (twice!) and so I'm sure that you will find the same, without ever feeling the need to push.
And no... being uncertain isn't pathetic at all. It's natural!

I bet you're more creative than you think. I know I never would have thought I could write if I hadn't tried it in the beginning, and that was only 2 years ago.
I love it here. You will too.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Red! Nah, y'all've got me beat hands down as far as writing ability goes. And that's okay. I dusted off some poetry I wrote years ago & submitted it here. Trust me when I say that, based on the votes those have received, I'm convinced I shouldn't submit anymore. But, hey, maybe I can find other ways to "make my mark."RedHairedandFriendly said:Welcome to the chaos of lit.I bet you're more creative than you think. *hugs* ... PLEASE don't go by the scores with your poems. There are some folk that will troll poetry, simply so their favorite writer stays at the top.adetaildiva said:Thanks for the vote of confidence, Red! Don't ever feel your work is inadequate and you shouldn't submit it.
Thanks for that. I really can't believe how wonderfully supportive folks are here. It kinda makes me feel all warm & fuzzy ..... in a good way.RedHairedandFriendly said:*hugs* ... I think there are different reasons. . .some simply don't like a category, or they don't like the writer in general, other things I really feel it is because a person doesn't want to lose their standing. Recently I've picked up a personal troll, I'm sure of it and even suspect I know who it is. Every poem and story now I submit is immediately flooded with 1's. The stories will recover; the poems never will.egelante said:Oh! so that's why people troll? That's even more pathetic!
