If it makes you happy, then it's not selfish. If it causes you to sacrifice your own happiness, then not doing it isn't selfish, but is self defense, since your purpose in life is your own happiness. Of course "happiness" is a complex amalgam of many things, and by no means is just instant gratification. It requires living a virtuous life, and knowing how to balance things such as being a good friend/family member vs. being taken advantage of, or sacrificing your own happiness. Wisdom is making good judgements as to where that balance lies.McKenna said:
