I have a friend in Uni from Ethiopia. She was raised Muslim, and her grandparents were very traditional. So while she and her sisters were visiting, the grandparents had them all circumcised, despite the fact that the parents were well educated and more progressive than that. I just find it sad, along with the fact that she has trouble in her relationships here sometimes because there is so much taboo on the subject of sex.

that's so sad, i can't understand it- it's really one thing about another culture that i cant learn to respect- and im a pretty respectful person of other cultures. *sigh*
