WTF, Grace - it's too a hard thing to do, to take care of yourself in this way? When the penalty for failure is blindness, amputation, misery, the imposition of monumental costs on yourself, your family, and society - for no good fucking reason?

I'm sorry for the pain you are experiencing regarding the sad news in your family, and for the loss of your grandfather (which you should stop feeling guilty about, for another thing.) But remember, dear: Your pupose in life is your own happiness. You exist for your own sake, not for anyone else's. You can't live someone else's life for them. If they want to make foolish choices about their health that's their business.

But what are you - some non-sapient creature without free will, unable to make good choices for yourself? Are you a human woman or a slug?

Just to be clear, happiness is much less likely without good health, and in many areas good health/not good health is purely a matter of choice. Vermillion is right - this is absolutely one of those areas. So which do you choose: Good health (and happiness) or not good health (and happiness less likely) ? Time to suck it up and make some decisions, girl, and some good choices.
