i LOVE cooking. I wish i had more time and energy to devote to learning new recipe's.

Italian vegetable soup, lasagne, spaghetti bolognaise (lamb), stir fry, country vegetable pie, pasta salad, chicken curry, aloo matar (potatoes and peas), paneer from scratch, freshyogurt fm scratch, shepherds pie and carbonnara can all geta bit boring once youve cooked them a million times. Im sure i can cook more- i just cant think. For a 19 y/o who has lived at home all her sad life its not a bad list.

Neways, i feel like sharing general cookery tips...for those who care and dont know already.

1) half a teaspoon of salt in a pan of water on the boil helps raise temperature to get boiling quicker.

2) perfect fluffy rice- add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar to boiling water before adding rice. Once cooked drain immediately and run a hot tap through the rice in the strainer- removing the starch. Both points keep the grains of rice from sticking together.

3) if preparing potatoes/ parsnips in advance, soak in cold water to stop them going black.

4) if preparing apple/pear in advance, soak in cold water with a few drops of lemon juice- stops them going brown.

can't think of anything else...atm...

This is why I don't work anymore. If someone pulled something like this on me these days I'd end up a case study in textbooks on multiple murderers. A case that makes the students that read about it all green and woozy.

It's a hazard of the job, unfortunately. The timing just really sucks. It will be quiet next week and the week after ... plenty of time to get things organized without having to pull overtime to get it done.

As for potential murder weapons ... we have a tapegun that has developed a taste for blood. Perhaps you could work that into a Georges story .. have him battling against corporate mail room zombies who maim and murder people with a bloody tape gun (I'm getting images of Shaun of the Dead here ... )
