My blurt: There is no english word for a parent who has lost a a child. A person who has lost a spouse is a widow or a widower. A person who has lost both parents is an orphan. But a person who's child has died is bereft even of an identity.

A parent who has lost a child is still a parent, just as a pregnant woman is a mother (not a mother-to-be).

Along with the rest of us. ;)
