Anyway, I was thinking diamond stud earrings. I've always wanted to give her a pair, but economics had ruled it out. That's not such a constraint these days and they're one of those things it seems every woman should have (you may flog me at will for such archaic thinking).
It also helps that she's expressed her desire to have them on several (ok many) occassions over the years.
