Italian.

Good food, good wine, good conversation... all is right with the world.
Sounds like my friend has found heaven - this, her fave season, and Cabela's.

I suppose we'll be seeing you next around here wearding Filson wool trousers, a plaid flannel shirt, some serious gore-tex boots, and a fine side-by-side shotgun, complete with Circassian walnut stock and etched hunting scenes on the receiver?

(Sounds pretty good, actually!)

I refrained from buying too much at Cabelas yesterday, just a few new pairs of hiking socks, and a Camelbak pack I've been wanting.

I don't do the guns anymore, I'm more apt to go fishing. :) I have a theory that fly-fishing is zen (but I still need to learn how to do it.)

As for the flannel, the best shirts are those that are already broken in. It's good if you can lift one from an ex-lover or so. :D

I drooled over a new kayak... and a new pair of hikers, but.... in my closet, I have more hiking boots and shoes than I have of any other kind of shoe. <ahem> Dork alert.

The Italian food was authentic, and to DIE for. My God. It was like porn for food addicts.

Why is this woman still unmarried? You realize that you are a wet dream come true for half the males on this continent? You are good looking, too, and I'll bet you like to fuck. Probably know how to cook, too.

WTF? Is this society that fucked up? Are all the good ones gay these days?

Edited to add: I'm sorry if this is embarassing - tell me and I'll take it down. I just don't get it anymore.

"Also Sprach Zarathustra" is also the name of the Strauss piece used for 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Zarathustra (in other words, 'rora's right, it's a name. ;) ).

McK said it, but thanks for the mention. ;)

They just announced over the news that Steve Irwin, otherwise known as "The Crocodile Hunter" has passed away. I'll post a link to the story, but it basically said that he was shooting some footage of a dive earlier today, and he was accidentally stung by a Stingray. He was proclaimed dead from a stingray barb to the heart. He was 44. It's sad to think that such a spirited man, with such a passion for life has past away way too soon. I feel bad for his family, especially his two children, who got to spend far too little time with him.

Steve Irwin: dead at 44

It's sad, and I don't mean to sound blunt, but you play with dangerous animals enough, stuff can happen. And it happened big time, I guess, to him. I never really watched him, but I saw clips of him (how could you not when he was in his prime, eh?) and I agree with you; he seemed like a pretty good chap.

Damn. I loved his show. :(
