Comes with the territory, love, with all relationships. It's an integral part of the human condition.

You can't love without pain, the two are indivisible, inextricably connected. If you want the love, you have to expect and live with the pain (it does lessen, if only to a dull ache). If you don't want the pain, then you have to shut yourself off from all human contact, live in isolation, a black, dark, unfeeling coldness.

I know which I'd rather choose.
