AngeloMichael said:Nature: The greatest show on Earth.
There were two families of geese in my backyard this evening. One had a mama, papa, and three babies each about half the size of the parents. The other had two parents as well, but they had at least fifteen little ones, each of these only a quarter the size of the parents.
I couldn't help myself, I went and got some bread and tossed them some chunks, if any neighbors saw me they're probably pissed. One of the parent geese saw the bread and went for it, its goslings following but the parent wouldn't share. The greedy goose ate about four bits of bread, but one of the little ones managed to steal a piece out of its mouth.
Then a rabbit showed up. I swear you could almost read the look on the parent goose's face: "I know you're not thinking of coming by here."
and the rabbit's reply: "I don't want any trouble, I just want to pass."
goose: "That's not gonna happen."
rabbit: "We'll just see."
The rabbit sprung forward and the goose ducked its head and started flapping its wings and started honking and ran towards the rabbit. The rabbit ran around the goose into a throng of goslings who immediately started chasing the bunny. The rabbit made it past all the geese to take shelter under a tree where the geese quickly forgot about it.
I must have spent an hour standing out there in the cool evening air just watching the animals. I consider it time well spent. I don't know if this is an isolated blurt, but it's something I wanted to share.![]()
The geese have moved on now, but the rabbit is still under the tree.
Thanks for sharing, loved reading this.
