Why is writing a cover letter for a manuscript submission so freaking HARD?
Because they know damn well why you're sending it and stating the obvious without seeming foolish is always difficult? :rose:

Yup. So, have fun with it!

This is your lucky day! Here's my manuscript. I've jumped through every damned one of your nit-picky formatting requirements, spun around three times, and shouted, "Oy, vay!" to the morning star. Send my contract to the following address:

Ah. So it blows through hydrocodone like it doesn't exist.

Can we agree that I am mightily impressed and dispense with the rest of the demonstration? I promise that I am, indeed, impressed. Right down to my hooves, just as soon as I'm able to stand on them again. No further evidence of puissance and malignancy need be submitted; I wholly accept that they are there, and in force.

*swoon*........horsey, I love it when you talk dirty.

'Puissance'......mmmmmmmmmm...........'malignancy'...........mmmmmmmmmmm

More,more, more.............*fanning myself*

This is one time a form letter would be really handy. I wonder if there are any online?

Yeah, stating the bloody obvious..."Hi, this is a bomb and will blow feathers all over your office in 30 seconds. It just LOOKS like a story manuscript."

"Cuz I want it now, I want it now! Give me your heart and your soul! I'm not breaking down! I'm breaking out! Last chance to lose control!"

*dances* :nana:

There you go, that should get their attention at least. I'd use it. It shows creativity. :D

*sigh* I lost courage at the last minute and went with minimalism, with a strong dash of terribly bland. I ALMOST included this line

"I think typing the above two sentences was more difficult than anything I had to do to the story."

but I chickened out.

Anyway, it is written. I will go throw up now.

Let's just say "Mal has HUGE issues with her self worth as a writer, which means all kinds of shit comes up whenever she tries to do stuff that other, more rational writers manage with only massive intake of prescription drugs and/or alcohol, neither of which seem to help her. She is very weird and reluctant to show her writing to anyone and has chosen this year, and Literotica in particular, as the proving/testing ground to get over her assorted issues. She hopes to eventually go on to writing regular cover letters, submitting manuscripts, and even reading rejections without throwing up, crawling under the bed, screaming, sobbing, throwing things, or scaring the cats."

I think that explains it all.... :p

I'll be under the bed.
